-->Katherine’s Chapter <--

After the day I met all the boys (and, sadly, Sienna), Luke hadn’t talked to me much. We talked in science class, but not more than needed. We only talked about how atoms behaved and things like that, nothing close to personal stuff.

“Luke?” I asked during class. Luke looked up at me and I saw boredom in his eyes.

“What?” He yawned and looked back at the professor.

“Can I maybe talk to you after class?” I asked.

“Is it about class?” He looked slightly panicked but still made no eye contact.

“Uhm, not really.”

I have to tell you I talked to Jai more than to Luke and I felt guilty, but I also knew that the silence between us wasn’t completely my fault. I think he was still mad at me and his twin brother.

Jai was wonderful, he had become my best friend, but obviously, we had to behave we were a couple. We hadn’t kissed yet though, but we did hold hands when we had a “date”.

He called me last night and told me he had received a lot of tweets from fans, saying that we should kiss in the next video. He ignored them, of course, but I knew the credibility would diminish until it was zero.

I decided I wouldn’t open my Twitter account anymore because I knew what happened with girlfriends of celebrities, they get hate. And I know people can be harsh and mean (not as mean as Sienna, but still).

Class ended and everybody got out as quickly as possible, I had the afternoon off and so did Jai so we decided to film a video for their channel “JanoskiansBlog”, to do an #AskJaiandKath.

I was kind of nervous, because I had never filmed a real YouTube video before, I once did it with my friends but we didn’t put it on YouTube. If it depended on me, we would’ve.

Either way, I found Luke sitting on the bench where we first properly talked and walked over to him.

“Hi.”

“Hi.” He responded and smiled briefly. I smiled back but I was sure he could detect it wasn’t a real smile.

“I wanted to talk about us?” I said hesitantly. He looked dumbfounded.

“I mean, our friendship, us being friends. You know what I mean.” I kicked my foot softly against the concrete floor and watched it as if I was watching the end of the Titanic (minus the tears, that would’ve been sad).

“Yeah.” Luke laughed softly and looked at his hands.

“Why don’t we talk?” I asked him point-blank.

“We talk.”

“Outside the lessons, Luke.” I pushed.

He stayed silent once he noticed I was losing my patience. He sighed deeply and looked at me, for the first time in a week or so, or so it felt.

“I’m sorry.” He gulped and stood up, facing me directly.

“It is just, you have a boyfriend and I have a girlfriend. People get jealous.” He fumbled with his fingers again.

“I’m sure Jai isn’t jealous when I talk to you, but Sienna is?” I asked worriedly. I didn’t want him to be someone on the leash of their girlfriend. That wouldn’t be fun to him, and not to his friends either.

“She is.” Luke replied, again, briefly.

“Why though? I’m sure she has no reason to be? Do you really want to be with someone who keeps you short, on the leash?” I tried to catch his eye contact, but failed.
