You awaken after what feels like an eternity. You cannot tell how long it has been, but you were certainly in an unfamiliar location. Rubbing your eyes, you notice that you are floating in a grey, seemingly endless void. You struggle to stop floating and to get up. Though, after a bit of trying, you managed to stand up properly despite there seemingly being no floor in sight. Just grey, endless, void.
You panic, not knowing where you were in the slightest! Your memories are foggy and you can barely remembering your own name. You notice a fancy, brown door away from you. Despite your worries that it may lead to danger.. It was basically your only current option unless you wanted to be in the same place endlessly. It was.. very lonely right now anyways. You felt like if you were here forever you'd go insane.
So, you walked over cautiously to the brown door, looking left and right to ensure there were no traps or anything of the sort. As you got closer, you realized there was a shining white light coming from it. A faint tune plays, a comforting one. It increases in volume as you get closer and closer to it. Putting your hand on the door knob, you twist it and pull the door open. There was a record player playing the tune in the middle of the room.
As you sat on the ground to listen to the music, you couldn't help but smile. It was very relaxing.. and comforting. You felt your memories flooding back. From the happy, to the sad, the regretful and the painful. Ah, along with your name. Though, certain moments still remained fuzzy, but at least you remembered some stuff, right?
You were lost in thought about the memories, and so many questions. Why were you here? How were you here? Was this a dream? It certainly did not feel like one after all. So where were you? You were snapped out of your thoughts by a voice. " Ah, so you have finally woken up, my child. " A motherly voice says, her voice soothing just like the tune that had been playing this whole time.
You turn to see a figure smiling down at you. " I have been coming here every day to see if you have woken up, it has been quite a while my child. Though, time here passes differently after all, hee-hee. " She continues to say. " But, my sense of time is quite bad. I am unsure if your world has changed a lot or has remained the same. " You stand up. The lady was fairly tall, so you had to look up to see her.
" It is not your time yet. Come with me, I will guide you back to your world. " She reaches out her hand, offering it to you. You hold her hand and she begins walking with you through the hallway. " This will be quite the walk, would you like me to say any jokes to entertain you, perhaps? " She asks, looking down at you. You nod yes in response to her question. If the walk was going to be long, it would be good to have some entertainment after all.
" I have not gotten to tell anyone these jokes in a long while, forgive me if they're perhaps old timey, aha.. " The lady informs you before she starts telling you all the jokes she knows. Surprisingly, most of the jokes, you found hilarious. It took you a lot to not fall to the ground laughing. The lady seemed happy that you enjoyed her jokes and you both continued to walk. Time seemingly flew by quickly, and you reached yet another door.
The lady takes out a silver key, putting it into the keyhole and unlocking the door. You push the door open and see a mansion. You looked around while the lady continued to walk you somewhere else. It was really huge, you wondered how the lady didn't get lost in this place! Finally, you reached yet another door. The lady opens it and you look to see your world.
You were horrified to realize.
The world was so much different.
It looked so different from what your memories showed.
... What happened..?
You could not help but take steps back, staring down at the world you thought you knew well. You did not even realize you had taken steps back until the lady spoke once again. " ..What's wrong my child? Do you not wish to go back? " There was concern in her voice, and worry. " If you would like to stay with me, you may... I am not forcing that upon you though. "
You look up at her with tears pricking your eyes. " This is a one way exit. Once you leave, you will never be able to return. " She sighs. " Even once you die, you will not be able to return to this place my child. " The lady looked like she did not want you to go, but would respect your choice if you were to end up leaving this world and return to yours.
You have to make a choice here.
Will you leave
or
Will you stay
