Beep beep beep

I wake up to the sound of my alarm with a smile on my face. It's the first day of senior year. I've been looking forward to this day my whole life.

And that is no exaggeration. I've spent my entire time in high school building a persona that will render me untouchable. I've watched the outcasts in movies and no way will I be one of them. Over time this persona in my head has become a reality. Perfect face, perfect grades, perfect boyfriend and adored by all. But this is the most important stage. This is the stage where I do everything humanly possible to come out on top and get that prom queen crown.

Not that I have any competition. No one matches up to me. So, as long as nothing terrible happens, I have nothing to worry about.

I sit up in bed and yawn while stretching. This is going to be an amazing year.

As I walk into the bathroom, I admire my reflection before catching sight of a huge pimple on my forehead. And by huge, I mean HUGE!

No, no, no, no, no.

Where did it come from? It wasn't there last night. This is the last thing I need right now. I can probably try and cover it with my hair. That and a little make up should fo the trick. Hopefully.

I'm sitting in front of my vanity cabinet, styling my hair when I receive a call.

It's Beth. My only friend in school, if I can even call her that. All of the dream life stuff I was mentioning earlier. Yeah, it's all fake.

"Hey, girl. Are you ready?" I ask Beth enthusiastically.

"Yeah, yeah," I can see her rolling her eyes in my mind. "What colour are you wearing?"

I frown. "Why do you wanna know?"

"So that we can coordinate. We should make a statement with matching outfits. That'll quell the rumours that we fell out during the summer."

I think on it for a second. "Let's both go Jean skirts and we can wear whatever tops we like."

"Fine by me." She replies before hanging up.

I mentally sigh. Beth and I are tolerable towards each other at best. The only reason I put up with her is because I need everyone to believe I have a perfect friendship with someone pretty but not as pretty as me, plus Beth isn't a very likeable person so I'm her best bet when it comes to friendships and she cares about appearances just as much as I do.

So, we find ourselves in this arrangement.

Just then, someone knocks on my bedroom door.

"Is that you, Spencer?" I inquire without budging.

"Breakfast I'd ready, Miss Anaya." The butler replies.

"I'll be down soon."

Ten minutes later, I'm seated in the dining room. All alone on the five foot dinner table.

"Your parents wanted to inform you that they won't be back till next week," a maid tells me as she lays my food in front of me and I nod.

I turn heads as I park my brand new Bentley beside a beat up truck. I take my time stepping out if the car and surveying my surroundings as those around drink me in.

What can I say? I look good and I dress to impress.

Where on earth is Beth? She's supposed to meet me here at exactly this time.

Sqqquuuueeeee!!!

I whip around once I hear the squeal and Beth flings herself at me with a huge smile plastered on her face. We walk away from the parking lot crowd hand in hand.
