"Just like the day that I met you
The day I thought forever
Said that you love me
But that'll last for never"
- Giveon, Heartbreak AnniversaryBrielle.
"Brielle, get up sweetheart. You can't keep moping around. I know it's hurting you right now."
2 months later after finding out the man I loved went off & got married to another women, here I was drowning in my tears & sorrow. I haven't been to work in God knows long, my mother has moved in with me until I get back on my feet, & on top of that Lyric's birthday is coming up & I haven't even thought about doing her anything due to me being in this state.
Michael has tired contacting me EVERYDAY but I refuse to talk. It's bad enough that I will have to go back to work tomorrow. He's even sent his mother & Janet over here.
"Mommy, just leave me alone." I said dragging the covers back over me.
"No. Get up out of this bed & go freshen up. No man should have you crying all day, it's been 2 months now." Finally I caved in.
I slowly got up & walked to the bathroom. I looked at my reflection & saw that I didn't even look like myself. Tear stained face, puffy, red, & swollen eyes, & my hair was a mess. I reached for my toothbrush and toothpaste then began brushing my teeth. After that, I showered. The hot water felt good to my skin. Once my shower was done, I did something to my hair & added a little makeup. I walked out of the bathroom feeling rejuvenated.
Making my way down the hall, I saw Lyric laying in her bed watching tv & playing with her dolls. I walked in her room & her little face immediately lit up with happiness.
"Hi mommy baby." I said sitting on her bed while she jumped in my arms.
"Mommy!" She squealed hugging me tightly.
"Mommy, I miss daddy. Where is he?"
I sighed because she's too young & wouldn't understand. But I couldn't tell her what happened, so I just made up a logical story.
"Daddy did something bad & now he is in time out." I said cupping her cheeks.
"Bwad Daddy!"
She laughed & her laugh made me smile. Soon my mother yelled from downstairs.
"BRIELLE, THERE'S SOMEWHERE HERE TO SEE YOU, WELL TWO PEOPLE ACTUALLY."
I walked down the stairs with Lyric on my hip. Immediately my smile went away & my face twisted up with disgust.
"You got some nerve here & then you bring HER!" My mother spoke harshly.
"Noami, please." Michael said.
I walked further into the living room & put Lyric down, where she hid behind my leg as usual. The two people who I despise the most are now in my house.
"Why are you here?" I asked.
"I wanted to see my daughter." He said, unwrapping his hand from Lisa's.
"I don't want to see you, daddy. You don't love me or my mommy anymore." Lyric said obviously about to tear up.
"Of course, I love you guys."
"Yeah right." I snickered, cutting him off.
"No you don't, you love her. She looks like a monster. If you loved us, you wouldn't have left!"
For Lyric to be 3, she surely had a mouth on her. A mouth she got from her mother.
"Lyric Capri Jacobs!" My mother yelled out.
"Mama, it's okay."
"I hate you, you aren't even my daddy anymore!" Lyric said running out the room now crying.
I looked to Michael angrily. I wanted to punch a hole in his face. Not only did he show up to my house, uninvited. He made my daughter cry.
"Brielle.."
"Save it Michael."
I walked off to search for Lyric to find her sitting on the swing outside still crying. I sat down next to her & wrapped my arms around her, consoling her.
"Lyric, that wasn't nice ok. Now I need to apologize to your father & Ms. Lisa."
"No mommy. Why should I?"
"Because, even though Daddy has hurt us. That's still your father. And, yes he does love you. He loves me too, but Mommy can't love him back right now."
Little did we know, Michael was standing behind us.
"Lyric, come to Daddy." Michael said pulling a chair out.
I looked at her & reassured her it's okay. She walked to him & sat upon his lap while playing with her fingers.
"I love you with everything in me, Lyric. I'm sorry that I just up & left but me & your mom needed space from each other."
"I'm sworry too Daddy." She said hugging him.
"Now go play while me & mommy talk."
Lyric went to go play in her dollhouse while Michael walked over to me.
"When are you coming back to work?"
"Tomorrow." I said nonchalantly, avoiding eye contact with him.
"Listen, Brielle. I'm sorry okay. It was just business & pressure."
"No, I get it. You didn't want the media to see you with a black women because I look like the whorish type & you don't go fucking marrying somebody then kissing them on national television for fucking business Michael."
"You're not a whore & it's not that."
"You know what Michael, I'll see you tomorrow at work & you can stay out here to spend time with Lyric, but I'm gone."
With that, I got up & walked back into the house. Lisa stopped me for a second.
"You probably don't like me but I don't care, Michael is mine. You were just a quick fuck to him. He'll never like you. You're just Black & no good."
"Okay, Salamander. Whatever helps you sleep good at night. Just know, he'll get tired of you soon & come running back to me. I bet you can't even last on top as good as me."
I walked off leaving her there speechless. Now, she has started some shit but I will be the one finishing it.
