Joshua was quiet when I said that. I'm sure he was surprised by that but then again, he couldn't deny what I said was wrong. Neither of us have the time to look after each other. To focus on each other. Heck, we haven't hung out together for almost two years.
"So... This is it between us...?" he asked and I nodded
"Don't you maybe... Want to rethink your decision again...?" he asked
I pursed my lips as I looked at him
"Joshua, I wish I could but, I don't think any of this would work out. I'm really sorry,,," I apologized
"I just, really need to take a break from everything. I have a lot of things to settle and I can't even make some time for you... Same goes to you don't you think so...?" I said to him
"Please don't take this to heart... You did nothing wrong. It's all me" I said as I held his hand
"We'd still keep in contact, but for now, we really need to take a break from each other to focus more on our career... I hope you'd understand..." I added
We were bickering, both sides not wanting to back down. In the end we came to an agreement.
He pursed his lips as he let out of a sigh
"I understand..." he looked down
Honestly I don't really want to end it, but things aren't working out and it's hard staying in this state.
I thought and thought about it and I got an idea
"Then what about this ?" I said, wanting to suggest the idea I've gotten
"We'll split up first and we'll see how this goes on. If we feel like there wasn't any difference in it, then we'll keep it that way. If it's disturbing us in a lot of ways, then we'll get back together. Is that alright with you ?" I suggested
He thought of it and seemed to be agreeing with it
"But do note that we shouldn't treat each other like a couple anymore. From today onwards, we're only friends and acquaintances of each other" I added a strict rule
"Well, it do have to be like that huh ?" Joshua chuckled
"But that's alright with me. If we're okay like that, then we'll just stay as friends then" he added
"That's a deal then" I smiled at him
