November 2019 : I'll write a short story on this one part...

Note: All the pictures are from Untamed, because Wang Yibo is Lan Wangji in my head.
This part is really based on the book, but a little on the anime series. The Untamed version although awesome did not sadly involve a love confession.
We begin as Lan Wangji arrives at the Temple...
-----------------------------
It happened so fast. A blink between moments so drastic that Lan Wangji felt as through the ground itself had shifted.
Wei Ying was in the courtyard when he arrived, with the unmistakable forms of Brother and Jin Guangyao, surrounded by false monks and whoever else served the mastermind behind so much of the tragedy in their lives.
Panic warred with pride as he saw his beloved, defiant on the steps. Whatever else that had or still could happen here tonight, Wei Ying was alive.
With a single strike, anger tightening his lithe body to a whipcord of energy, Wei Ying lashed out at a group of monks convening on him at the steps of the temple. Two fake monks flew threw the air likely dead. Wei Ying after all never missed, especially when he was angry. Seven or eight more fell harshly to the unforgiving stone, severely injured or dead as Wei Ying roared, You understand my ass!"
Wei Ying's anger had called forth his own and Lan Wangji had sent Bichen into the fray, pushing back the fake monks left who thought they might have a chance against Wei Ying, rushing forward over the consequences of their earlier attempt. Blood was already staining the stones after all.
Brother had an expression of heartbreak and anger, hidden in the creased lines of his passive stance. No doubt Brother was trying to deescalate things, without any allies or weapons and Jin Ling close behind him.
When he landed not far from Wei Ying in the main part of the courtyard, he called Bichen back to his hand. Wei Ying was alright, but his grey eyes were intense, disbelieving as if he hadn't expected Lan Wangji to come to his aid. "Lan Zhan." He said too softly to be heard, but Lan Wangji had seen that perfect mouth shape the syllables of his name, too often not be able to read it even from this distance.
Which confirmed that Wei Ying had not thought their friendship was salvageable and only made Lan Wangji more determined than ever, to agree to a compromise and loosely tied together arrangement should that be what Wei Ying wanted. But that was a painful discussion for later.
"You see?" Jin Guangyao said sweetly, like rotting fruit - cloying and repulsive. "That's what I said. If you are here Young Master Wei, Hanguang-jun will definitely be as well."
