SERAYAH MCclain || June 8th 2019.
Chicago Illinois, Parkway Gardens"Wake yall asses up" My Aunt Vivivca yelled, bursting in the room. I quickly opened my eyes and lifted up from my bed to see she was holding two pots in her hand.
I immediately scrunched up my face, cause I could've sworn since it's the summertime and I'm out of school, that waking up early stuff was going to end.
"Ma what are you doing?" Kiara mumbled under the covers "We're trying to sleep"
"What am I doing? Kiara don't play with me, you know it's time for you to head down to the diner and start serving customers" She said.
"Really ma? I have to work on a Saturday?" Kiara asked, lifting up from under the covers. Her hair was all over the place "Tell me you're lying" she pouted.
"I'm not" Aunt Viviva replied, "Now get up, and you too Serayah. Don't nobody live here for free. I already called Andell and told her y'all would be down there in 30 minutes" she said
Me working? I almost jumped out of the bed and ran, hearing her say such absurd order. I never had to work a day in my life ever and she knows that.
Not that I have a problem with working, but it's so sudden. Especially since I just graduated High School a month ago.
"Aunt Viv, I don't see why I have to work when I-.." I started but was cut off.
"I know you have money Serayah, that clearly comes from your parents and I don't want their money. I want the money you're going to earn from working. Now get up, Kiara will tell you all about our diner. The one I've owned for 4 years now" she smiled and walked out of the room, leaving me speechless.
"Kiara if you're still in that bed Imma come in there and hit you with this frying pan. You knew you had to work this morning, Ion see why you came in late last night anyways" Aunt Vivica yelled.
"UGHHHH" Kiara groaned, throwing the covers back "I swear parents be forgetting what they say sometimes, cause I know she told me I was off today"
I got out of the bed and went to the closet to grab everything I neededbefore heading to the bathroom down the hall.
I sat my things on the counter, grabbed my toothbrush and toothpaste and brushed my teeth.
Afterwards, I washed my face and hopped in the showers, and washed myself off.
I soon stepped out and wrapped the towel around my body. I did my skin care routine and went back to the room and changed into my clothes.
Something simple, since I know I'm gone, change into the uniforms down at the diner.
I did my hair into a slick back ponytail since it was so straight and soft. I made sure to add my baby hairs before grabbing my earrings and placing them in my ear.
Hopefully we don't have to work for long hours at the diner or I'll have to leave. Aunt Viv didn't tell my mom that I had to work if I came down here.
I took my phone off the charger and sat down on the bed. I went to my contacts and clicked Armani name.
I didn't text her last night cause what would've been the point? She was so drunk.
To Armani:
Hey, are you good?
DeliveredI cut my phone off and went into the kitchen to find something to eat. I opened up the refrigerator seeing they had tons of groceries stacked inside. This couldn't be our refrigerator, my mother would only buy healthy light food.
