I felt momentarily blind as the dim lights quickly flickered on. Rapidly blinking my eyes and waiting for them to adjust to the light after being exposed to the dark for so long. The last blink I held tighter then the rest then opened my eyes and let out a loud gasp.
My eyes shot all around the room taking in every last inch of it. I lost track of my breathing and let a smile smile creep into my lips, it looked as if I was inside a huge tree.
Scanning the room, I noticed to my left was a glistening blue waterfall with blooming wildflowers making a show from the cliff they hung. I smiled to myself remember to myself that I was so terrified of such a beautiful thing.
To my right was what looked like a small living room, with very particular wooden furniture. Each chair was carved into what looked like modern art, twists and turns at every angle. The table in between he chairs was made of a cold dark metal that formed the shape of an oak tree. It was unusual but the sight of it was beautiful. I looked once more at everything running my finger over a small wooden stool and noticing a hint of shine in the air like glitter floating past my eyes. Everything seemed so magical and-
I screamed and jumped back tripping over another large stone and looked up again. Sitting across from me a boy, about my age, laughed watching my every move. I stared for a moment frozen in place. I wanted to cry, but my mind was to curious to let a tear slip.
His short ash hair moved to the side as he turned his head to me looking puzzled. His his icy blue eyes never broke their stare as if they were staring right through me.
My lip quivered wanting to speak, but my mind was to afraid to allow it. I closed me eye trying to build the courage up to say something but when it was time to talk not a word came. The boy began to lose his bright smile as he focused on my movements. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words fell out. In that moment I opened my eyes and the courage to speak began to flow.
"H-hi" I uttered
"Wow" he stifled a laugh "I expected to be screamed at from a girl like you who just fell thousands of feet under the ground" He smiled and swing his feet.
"The last guy who fell screamed at me and got lost in the jungle. Still have no idea where that guy went" A huge grin crossed his face, as he burst into laughter.
My face crinkled in confusion. Was he really joking around with me? Considering what I had just been through, I was confused, hurt, overwhelmed, and there where so many other feeling going through my mind, I didn't have the patients for this kid at the moment.
"Uh...sorry to ruin your um..fun but where am I and who are you?" I announced with irritation in my voice.
"Haha" he held his hands up in mock defense "Calm down darlin I didn't mean to rub you the wrong way" He began laughing even more.
"Can you please stop laughing for one second and at least tell me what's going on" My face began to turn a light red with anger, there was no trace of a pleasant tone in my voice.
"Okay, okay just relax I was just having a little fun, ya know down here I don't get the chance to entertain very often, so it's fun wile it lasts. Oh I'm sorry where was I...um...oh yes! Hey I'm Darren, and you have fallen into my home, you saw something shiny, and fell down that hole remember" He began to smile again a little less than before, and held up a small shiny object.
"It was you! Your the reason I'm here!, and your going to have to get me out! I have to get home. People will worry, they will call the police. Do you know how much trouble I'm going to get in!" I stood quickly, Yelling as loud as I could.
He came up to me and gently sat me down. They looked at me about to say something. He paused and crinkled his face as if he was thinking attentively.
"I'm sorry I brought you here, but I honestly don't have the slightest idea on how to get out" He exclaimed with a straight face, then turned around to tidy some books up behind him.
"You mean to tell me there is no way out of this place, so I...I'm never going to see my brother, my friends, or...or my dad again" My face went blank.
"I couldn't understand why you would want to go back to them considering you just got into a big fight with your father about how no one ever listens to you, and how your more capable to do more things than anyone thinks, or how about your a prodigy and no one will listen long enough to know about it. Well I just don't see the reason you would go back to that retched place" He was still cleaning things up, as he spoke.
"H...how do you know all that" I stammered to get the words out.
" Well ya know, I get around, and I hear things" He spoke softly.
"So basically you have been spying on me, and my family. That's just plain creepy."
He just shrugged, and ruffled through some papers. I turned around so I wasn't looking at him anymore.
"So what am I supposed to do now that I'm stuck here" I put my head down and nervously played with the edge of my blue hoodie. I kept waiting for an answer but heard nothing. I looked up and he was gone.
