I grumble and slap my hand down on the infuriating contraption called an alarm clock. Rubbing my eyes I sit up in bed. It's been a month, Should I go? I really should. That's it I'm doing it. I growl and rip the covers off my legs before I get any thoughts of snuggling back down into the coziness of bed.
I make my way into the bathroom and start on my hair and makeup doing the usual makeup and quickly running a flat iron through my hair.
I'm sorry let me introduce myself, I'm Quinn. You know that awkward girl at the back of class that's basically invisible? Yeah that's me. With my brown hair and green eyes I'm not ugly but there are some people much more attractive than yours truly.
This is going to be my first day back to school since... my mom died. Now I'm a pretty happy go lucky kid, or at least I was. Now I find it hard to be happy let alone the go lucky part. I'm just hoping to get a smooth day without much trouble.
I walk back into my room and pick out on outfit, I tend to keep things pretty casual. I jump and shimmy into my old ripped up skinny jeans and slide on a dark grey sweater. I lace up my grey vans onto my feet, grab my back pack from the floor, and head downstairs to the kitchen. My dad and brother seem surprised to see me which I don't blame them, I've only left my room for food for a month.
"You coming to school with me sis?" My brother, Matt, says. Now you remember how I said I was the awkward quiet kid? He's like the complete opposite. He's smart, popular, and quarter back of the football team. Yo
"Uh yeah, I didn't do my hair and makeup to go back to bed." I answer him in a duh type of tone. He raised his hands in defense.
"Hey no harm in asking." I roll my eyes and look over to my dad. He gives me a smile and wraps his arms around me in a hug.
"I'm so proud of you!" He says all excited.
"I'm going back to school not winning a spelling bee dad." I say pointedly. He lets out a huff and grumbles something under his breath.
"You two need to get to school so I'll see you when you get home." Dad calls over his shoulder as he leaves the room, probably going to his office. Ever since Mom died he's been working from home a lot, probably because he didn't want to leave me in the house alone. I was a little unstable when it happened.
Matt drags me out to the car and he starts the engine, pulling out of the driveway. We are on our way to school in a comfortable silence, listening to some pop song on the radio. As we pull into a parking spot in the school's parking lot Matt looks over to me.
"You ready?" He raises his eyebrows in a questioning manor.
"nope." I say popping the p. He sighs and rolls his eyes at me, shutting off the car. As soon as he steps out of the car the whole popular crowd swarms him and the car. I keep my head down and navigate my way through the mass of girls wearing minimal clothing and guys wearing to much cologne. Once I can breathe again I walk to my locker and open it up. I pull out my biology textbook, folder, and notebook piling them up in my arms. I then go to my biology class twenty minutes before class starts so I can get as much makeup work as I can. I'm going to be drowning in makeup work.
When lunch rolls around I sit down on the floor in front of my locker and pull an apple out of my backpack. I bite down on the shiny red fruit and start working on my geometry makeup work. I despise geometry, whoever invented it needs to be stabbed with a rake.
I finally get frustrated and throw down the stupid triangles of geometry. I take a larger then needed bite of my apple and chew it angrily. I wish I didn't come to school today, I could've crawled back into my blankets and be all mopey for another week. I jump when the bell rings signaling it's time to go back to class. I pack up my things and head to history.
