Ranboo took a deep breath, having to hold himself back from falling face forward onto his small messy desk.

He wished he could say that he got at least an hour of sleep in the past five days, but that would be a lie, he got about forty minutes of sleep however.

And while that wasn't a lot, it was what was pulling his last remaining bit of sanity to focus on the task at hand.

He stared at the stack of case files blankly, he'd read over them for so long he could recite a couple of them, but no matter how many times he re-read the words they didn't give him any new clues, much less the answers.

And he quite honestly was not in the mood to look through them again, even though he should.

The thing was, Ranboo lived in a rather small town.

A small town where a big murder case happened.

You see, when things like this happen, neighboring towns don't offer their help, and they leave the small town to fend for itself.

So, the town pulled together a mismatched group of rag-tag people to try and figure out what they couldn't.

And yes, it was true, the group was smart, but with nothing left behind in the crime scene, and no evidence or leads, there's not a lot that you can do.

So now the group was left scratching their chins as they tried to piece together what they knew and what they didn't.

It wasn't easy, to say the least.

One of the first things the group tried to do was interogate some of the town people, but everyone was as clueless as they were.

And Ranboo himself was willing to bet that if somebody knew who the murder was, they wouldn't tell.

The town was small.

Yes, he said that alot, but it was true, and small towns like this one grow to know eachother well.

Everyone here was either friends or just aqauntices, but nobody was really enemies, at most they were frenemies.

So chances are, the case wouldn't go anywhere for awhile, and Ranboo would be left losing sleep over something that had no real logical solution.

Ranboo felt his eyes get heavy as he tilted his head back onto the chair, he could hear faint conversations outside the closed door.

Another thing about this group of makeshift detectives is that they really don't have an official office area, all they have is an old house. They just use the abandoned bedrooms as offices.

Sure, the floors in the house were squeaky, and the faucets all leaked, and the lights would always flicker, and there was a hole in the roof, and sure, maybe they also had a bug problem, but it could get worse.

Their roof could fall in like the abandoned house across the street did. So they had that going for them.

Ranboo silently found himself leaning closer to the door, trying to hear the conversation that held place just outside. He couldn't really hear what they were saying, but he could recognize the voices to be Phil and Wilbur.

The father figure and the emo friend, we all know them and love them.

Ranboo closed his eyes listening to the incoherent mumbles, they were almost enough to lull him to sleep, but at this point anything could lull him to sleep with how tired he was.

He felt his consciousness slip past his fingertips as he slowly lost awareness to what was going on.

A loud click of a door knocked him out of his almost slumber quickly however.

Ranboo snapped his head to the side to see the tall brunette in the doorway.

His round golden glasses looked close to falling off his face, and his yellow sweater had a small coffee stain on it, ontop of that his curly hair was messy and un-tamed.

It was clear Wilbur hadn't slept in awhile either.

"You look tired." Wilbur stated bluntly as he placed a steaming mug onto the desk.

"And you don't?" Wilbur faked a scoff at Ranboo's comment and fell down into a spare chair across the small room.

The room got un-settlingly quite much to Ranboo's discomfort, but lucky for him the silence didn't last too long before Wilbur broke it again.

"There's supposed to be a storm tonight, supposed to get pretty rough." Wilbur looked like he was going to continue, but paused, looking at Ranboo for a reaction.

Ranboo moved his hand I'm a small circle, gesturing for him to continue.

"Phil thinks we should all stay the night here, so that we don't have to drive home in it."

"Why don't we all just leave early? So we beat the storm home?"

"Wouldn't want to break Phil's heart would you Ranboo?"

Ranboo sighed fondly.

"Oh poor old fragile Phil." Ranboo mocked, earning a small chuckle from Wilbur.

A knock on the door frame snapped their attention to the mentioned blonde in the doorway.

"Poor fragile me is making dinner, chicken noodle soup. Would you little shits like some?"

Both nodded, taking every opportunity they could to eat some of Phil's food. He was a good cook, but they'd never admit it.

Phil smiled, before walking off without another word. Wilbur followed right afterwards, no goodbyes from him either.

Ranboo sighed loudly and dramatically even though nobody was there to hear him.

He got up, his long limbs making a satisfying popping noise as he did.

He grabbed the cup of coffee and walked to the main room, seeing the rest of the mismatched group already there.

Techno was sitting on the floor, Tommy on the couch directly behind him, playing with his long pink hair. Tubbo was sitting in a chair, seemingly sleeping.

Ranboo could guess that Wilbur was in the kitchen annoying Phil.

The room was quite, but not in an uncomfortamble way, in a nice way. The silence was only ever broken by soft snoring from Tubbo.

Ranboo sat down on the end of the couch, placing his cup on the coffee table in front of him before silently closing his eyes. Maybe he could rest for just a bit. He was safe here, this place was home, these people were family. He closed his eyes, consciousness quickly fading away.
