After lunch had ended, I walked toward Geometry, but got distracted by flirting girls. I ran and soon caught up to Savannah. I was about to creep up on her from the back and-
"Nolan, what are you doing?"
"Holy cow, girl. For over 10 years have I known you and there isn't a single time you get scared. How do you do that?"
"Do what?"
"Hide the fact that you have another pair of eyes stuck on the back of your head."
Afterwards, I got several smacks on the shoulder by a Prada purse, but it was worth her attention. Savannah had been acting strange since the conversation at the cafeteria. Had I done something wrong? Seriously, again?
"So what was up with you back at the cafeteria?"
"What do you mean?"
"Oh, you know exactly what I mean."
Savannah quickly looked around as if she was making sure that nobody was listening.
"Well- Nolan, I thought I saw Harper at the cafeteria entrance."
I blinked. I couldn't process her words for the first few seconds. "What?"
Then I knew that she was just pulling my leg. "You crazy yet, because last time I checked, Harper was D-E-A-D, dead."
"I know, but I swear I could see the same cold, blue eyes peering from a black hoodie. And I think that Hannah noticed her too."
"Okay, this is becoming way too apocalyptic-zombie warrior-like... I'm out of here."
"Nolan! Wait, just a second... Hear me out- Nolan!" She stomped her foot then yelled again. "Nolan Terence, you come back here right now!"
I stopped. Nobody ever used my sir name, unless they either wanted to be killed or wanted my dead-serious attention. I had some bad experiences with my dad, and he left my mom for his girlfriend that was in her twenties. It was the same, old drama and whatnot. The thought made me want to throw up, but this made me even more sure that Savannah wasn't joking.
"Let's get to class, okay?"
"But Nolan-"
"Come on. We have a geometry pop quiz today!"
"Wait, how do you know about-"
"Hush young, dim-witted one, and just get ready to take a test on Chapter 1's preview lesson. We'll talk about this later."
With an uneasy look on her face, I could tell that Savannah wanted to disagree, but I didn't give her a chance to speak. I grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the classroom.
