Maybe more than friends?

Chapter 1 - i lost a best friend

Atlas's POV:

It's my first day of high school, it's nothing that scary. I've always gotten good grades, so it's nothing I can't handle. So why am I scared to go in? I have no idea, but I doubt it's anything to worry about.

I walk into the school and look down at the paper I was given, with my schedule, my locker and my locker combination, along with my dorm room. I walk to my locker and open it, I place some things inside and close the locker.

As I close the locker I see a person standing there next to it, that person was my best friend and only friend since childhood... Colton

"Heyyyyyy!- atlas!- so I have good news and bad news" he said
"Ok what is it?" I responded calmly.
"Ok so good news is I made some new friends! And they are super cool!" He said happily

"And the bad news?-"
"Well- uh- They said I couldn't be friends with anyone outside of the group- so-"

I froze 'he can't leave me- who else am I supposed to hang out with?- he's the only person I trust- he knows all my secrets- everything!-'
I sigh
'Well- if he's gonna choose them over me- so be it-.'

"I'm sorry-" he said
"Heh-.. no need to be sorry, this was bound to happen anyway-.. so there's no need for apologizing" I give a fake smile while holding back tears
"I uh- no- that's not what-" he says trying to fix the situation
"Have fun with your new friends.- bye-.." I run off headed to my dorm room

I run into the dorm room and bump into someone. I loose my balance and start to fall, then he catches me and pulls me into a hug.

As he hugs me all my emotions flood through my brain and tears start to pour down my face. I hug him tightly and buried my head into his chest. And after 5 minutes the tears stop.

"Are u alright?" He asks, he has a deep calming voice. I look up at him and shake my head.
"Did something happen? Want to talk about it?" He asks kindly
"y-yea" I manage to mumble
"Alright, would it be better to sit down?".
I shake my head
"I-I'd like to stay like this for a bit longer-" I mumble. He nods his head and responds with "alright, I'm ready when you are"

I hesitate for a second then I take a deep breath.
"M-my best friend l-left me for some group of people-" I say as tears start to form once again
"How long did u know him?" He asks
"M-my whole life-" I say as tears start falling. 

He placed his hand on my cheek and wiped some of the tears away.
"I'm sorry that happened, I'm not sure if this will help, but if you need a new friend I'm here"
"I-I'd like that" I mumble

I've never been one to make new friends, I had Colton and that was enough, but he left, so I guess I had an empty spot
