The blindfold went on again.
Tighter this time.
Like they didn't want me seeing anything.
Didn't want me knowing where I was going.
—
I was shoved forward, my balance completely gone, and then pushed down into what felt like leather seats.
A car.
No—
A limo.
Again.
—
My head knocked hard against the window.
Pain shot through my skull.
"Ah—" I gasped, instinctively curling in on myself.
Before I could even move properly, a hand gripped my shoulder—firm, almost controlled—and forced me upright.
A click.
A seatbelt.
—
I froze.
Confused.
Why—
Why would they do that?
You don't strap someone in safely if you're about to kill them.
Do you?
—
My breathing quickened.
Nothing made sense.
Nothing.
—
The engine hummed beneath me as the car started moving.
I sat there, rigid, my hands bound, my heart pounding so loudly I was sure they could hear it.
—
This wasn't how I imagined it.
Not that I ever imagined dying—
But if I had...
It wouldn't be like this.
Alone.
Blind.
Cold.
—
I swallowed hard.
No one was coming.
That thought settled heavily in my chest.
Maybe this was it.
Maybe this was how it ended.
Because of something I didn't even understand.
Because of someone else's revenge.
—
"I guess this is my fault..." I whispered to myself.
John Oaks.
Dead.
And somehow—
I'd become the price.
—
I squeezed my eyes shut beneath the blindfold.
Think positive.
Stupid.
But I tried anyway.
Maybe it'll be quick.
Maybe I won't feel anything.
