Emmy's POV:
"I should probably get going..." Ashton cleared her throat, glancing down at her feet as she buried her hands into the pockets of her race car driver jumpsuit.
It was strange seeing her so visibly anxious... Like I KNOW she's often just as nervous around me as I am around her, but it's easy to forget all of that with how well she typically hides it.
I guess all of the time we'd spent together tonight helped her to feel more comfortable with being uncomfortable around me. She was finally letting her mask down a bit. Kind of ironic being that it was Halloween and we were in literal costumes, but it was progress and I could work with progress.
"You could come inside for a bit if you wanted to, you know?" I shrugged. I knew that she knew it was an option, but I wanted her to come inside, so I verbalized it.
"I still haven't given you a birthday present." I smirked, seductively biting my lip. I was comfortable with the thought of taking things there with her tonight, so maybe she was too. Maybe all she needed was a little reassurance.
"Present?" Her brow furrowed as she shifted her gaze to meet my eyes. "You just found out that it was my birthday a few hours ago... Besides, I already had the best day because of you. I told you that, Em."
God, she was cute. I loved how much of a softie she secretly was, but now wasn't the time for swooning. I couldn't let her walk away again without giving myself a fair shot. I inhaled sharply.
"I know, but is there anything that could make it better?" I played with the hem of my skirt, lifting it just enough to tease the lacy lingerie hidden under my cat costume.
"Not that I can think of..." Ashton's voice trailed off once she'd noticed. I could feel her eyes on me as she scanned me up and down, undressing me with her mind.
To be honest, I'd worn the lingerie for myself. I hadn't planned on anyone else seeing it tonight. I just loved how sexy it made me feel. And right now, I was grateful for the extra boost of confidence it was giving me.
"You sure?" I teased, slipping my hand into hers. "The offer is still on the table if you want to come upstairs..." I leaned back into the utility pole, tugging her hand gently in the process.
"I want to, believe me." She trudged forward a few steps. "But I shouldn't."
There was no way such a slight pull could've knocked her off balance. Even if I had put all of my weight into it, I wasn't anywhere near strong enough to move her. Her steps were intentional, and we both knew it.
"I like you." She caressed my face, tilting my chin up to meet her gaze.
"You say that like it's a bad thing." I giggled, snaking my arms around her waist.
"I know. I'm sorry..." She sighed into my embrace.
We were so close at this point that I couldn't help but think about kissing her, and from the way her eyes lingered on my lips, I could tell she was thinking about it too.
"Is this okay?" I whispered in her ear, closing the distance between us.
"Mmhmm..." She murmured as I began trailing soft kisses along her jawline. Her head tilted back under my touch, and I could feel the corners of her mouth begin to curl as I closed in closer to her lips. "How is it that you manage to make me fall a little harder for you every time we're around each other?"
"I could ask you the same thing." I smiled back at her, tilting my head slightly before gently pressing my lips to hers. God, those lips... I swear I could kiss them forever, if she'd let me.
