(YIKES this one is old)
Photos stacked on the wall
On the mantle, big and small.
But one thing that stands out
In all photos short and stout
One thing is as clear as day
Their shadows are as black as night
Holding hands with delight
but in the mirror all I see
Are some colors behind me.
It starts and green and fades to blue.
My mother looks at me, with her crew.
"It's just a faze, you'll get over it soon!"
My father looks and smokes his pipe
"Son, I taught you how to ride a bike. But looking at your colored shade, I see you've been convinced your gay."
He rants and raves to my ears, until all I feel are tears.
My brother knocks on my door,
Gives me a hug, and a kiss on the head
"Don't listen to them, not now, not then.
You are you, you are yourself.
You're not cast to hell for who you love
Rather they be a man or not."
He comforts me untilI sleep
He tucks me in without a peep
He walks out and whispers
"They'll never understand, trust me I know. My shadow shines sho. Pink on top, yellow between, blue on bottom
they'll never see"I go to school and get pointed and jeered
All I can do is fear
My hairs been cut
Nails in my shoes
Notes on my desk
All I can do is dress my best
One day a new boy moves in
As I write off notes of sin
He hands me a sponge and what I see
Colors! Sure, different colors than me!
Pink and Blue and Purple shade!
He holds my hand and says "hey"
I walk home on cloud nine.
I open the door smiling wide.
My dad is in the doorway's hide
He lifts his hand and pushes me down.
Kicks me to the ground, picks me up.
All I make is choking sounds.
"SINNER SINNER! WHEN YOU WERE FIVE! I PRAYED FOR YOUR SALVATION FOR YEARS! WITH HOLY FILLED TEARS! AND YOU HAVE THE NERVE! THE GAUL! TO STILL LIVE IN SIN AND AWE! YOU USELESS! UNWANTED! BRAT! AND WHEN I-"
My brother steps in the way, takes a hit of disarray.
"Hit my brother again and I swear I'll bring your end. Leave, just leave. Get out, mom understands. I like all, more than women and man. He likes man, and if you don't understand, the door is right behind me."
He looks at the door, and takes his keys.
My brother drops to his knees, he gives me another hug.
"I always knew this day would come."
He picks me up, and bandages me up.
"Dad is just forever stuck. I've packed our bags, and thrown it in my car. With my significant other we'll go far."
We drove away and never came back.
My brother's partner's was Nat.
My boyfriend's name is Jack.
2 new photos are on the wall.
It's hung nice and tall.
