The first few moments were all but comfortable.
While Lazz and I ordered, Silvio and Hannah couldn't stop whispering funny things to each other and giggling like preschoolers. Silvio was looking at her like he once looked at me; with adoration. And I couldn't blame him. Who wouldn't look at her? She was beautiful. Even her eyes were an unusually mesmerizing blue color.
Suddenly I realized I was jealous of her, how she talked to Silvio and how she looked. I didn't feel as pretty wearing my dress anymore. I was very disgusted by this newfound jealousy. I had never felt like this about anything in my life before, but Hannah made it a reality for me by just sitting there and talking.
Shit, what was I feeling?
Lazz put his hand on my thigh when he felt me shift in my seat. I could tell he was worried about me, but not for the real reason. He thought Silvio disturbed me and the dinner was a mistake, and not that I was jealous of his brother's hot girlfriend because I didn't get the same attention from Silvio.
Deciding it would be better to think about something else rather than my disgusting feelings, I turned to Lazz and managed to smile for the first time tonight.
"Guess what happened while you were out with dad," I told him and moved my chair a little bit closer to his. Lazz raised his eyebrows as a gesture to ask 'why'. "I beat Vince's ass," I finished then giggled.
Chuckling, Lazz raised his eyebrows again, but this time in amazement. "Baby, were you playing monopoly again?"
"Yeah. He thought I was cheating and when I denied it, we started fighting about it."
"But you are cheating at monopoly, tiger,"
"Only you know that—that's why you don't want to play anymore—but Vince doesn't. Anyway, I had to defend my honor. We fought like little children and I had him in a headlock until mum came home and separated us, but I call it victory."
"That's my girl," Instead of chuckling like before, Lazz laughed richly and leaned to give me a soft kiss on the lips. In that moment, I felt Silvio's eyes on us, but I didn't dare turn around. Soon the food came in, and Lazzaro and Silvio started talking amongst themselves. I was silently eating my salmon and Hannah didn't strike a conversation either. Few minutes passed like this when Silvio included me in a conversation.
"Oh, is that so? Willa, Lazzaro tells me you're opening your own atelier,"
When I looked up from my plate, I saw Silvio already staring at me with an expression I hardly recognized. Was that disappointment? Hurt?
It took me a second to find my voice again." Yes, it's almost done being renovated, "
"I would've congratulated you earlier if I had known about this."
I stayed silent, but Lazzaro answered. "We weren't much in contact at the time, brother."
"I wonder why," as he said this, Silvio looked at me and frowned.
The boys continued on with some other unrelated conversation afterwards and I resumed my eating. I noticed Silvio wasn't paying much attention to Hannah anymore, even when she asked him something, and despite my jealousy, I felt kind of bad so I wanted to strike up a conversation with her, but before I could do it she excused herself to go to the ladies' room.
A few moments later, Lazz's phone rang and he excused himself, too, saying it was something from the university.
Alone with Silvio, I felt more nervous now. I knew he was looking at me,, but I couldn't give him the satisfaction to reciprocate it.
