Childhood Friends

Shoji pov

I sat down at the playground with my mother distracted in conversation. But I didnt care adult stuff is boring. I sat alone playing in the sandbox there were other kids but everyone avoided me. It hurt, I just wanted some friends too. I felt droplets of water landing on me as it started to rain.

I forgot my raincoat and I was tired of gatting my hair wet but, I refused to bother my mother. She has other stuff to deal with, at least if I get sick I'll miss school, people are mean. I then feel the rain stop hitring my head which is weird because I can still see its raining.

I glance up noticing an umbrella above me. I turn towards the source and see a small shadowy looking creature holding it. The creature is coming from a boy with a bird head. "Hello. I'm Fumikage and this is dark shadow. You looked cold so we wanted to help! Because thats what heroes do. Do you want to be a hero too?"

I blink slowly before nodding. I was never good at talking to new people. "you dont think i'm ugly? Or a monster?" He looked at me as if I were crazy. "No why would I think that?" I looked down before mumbling "because that's what everybody else thinks..." He looked angry. "Well everybody else is stupid and dont know good people when they see them!"

I nodded chuckling at the small anger coming from him. "Oh I never got your name!" My eyes widen before I smile slightly "Shoji, Shoji Mezou." I hear a woman yell for him. He perked up and looked at me. "Well shoji I like your name and your smile. But I gotta go mommas callin me. Bye!" "Bye bye." I waved back.

"Who was that Mezou?" I look up to see my mom smiling at me. "My new friend fumi!" She picked me up with 4 arms and kissed the top of my head. "I'm so glad you made a friend." I nuzzle her. "Me too momma."
