"Thank you so much for coming." My best friend and ex-lover hugged me tightly before pulling away and smiling. "It means so much to have your guy's support."

"Nothing could have stopped us from being here, Derek." I released him, hugging his husband Ethan immediately after. I was glad that he had come around and no longer glared at me when I was in the same room as Derek. There had been some intense dinners.

"Oh!" Ethan's mouth widened in surprise as my boyfriend Killian hugged him after I did, Ethan's cheeks going a deep shade of red. Yeah... Kill kind of had that effect on everyone. The man was a God. He wasn't much of a hugger though, not the touchy type at all in fact, except when it came to me.

Derek grinned slyly at his husband giving him a knowing look as Killian let go of him and stepped back.

"Does Asher know?" I asked the two men, glancing over at the 13-year-old boy that they had been fostering.

They shook their heads back and forth in unison, Derek the one to speak. "It's a surprise. He thinks this is a just a housewarming party."

The two of them had recently bought a house, making the move out of the penthouse suite they had been living in, in the hotel that Ethan owned. After excusing themselves, they walked to the front of the large living room, a utensil hitting the side of a champagne glass. "Can we have everyone's attention, please?"

The guests in attendance gathered around and I looked from face to face, recognizing the majority of them. All of Ethan and Derek's close friends and family had flown to New York to be here today with them.

"We would like to thank all of you for being here with us to celebrate our new home..." He extended his hand out to Asher who was sitting on the couch next to Ethan's dad Nolan. "And to celebrate our family. Come here, Ash."

Asher jumped up from his seat and rushed forward, smiling brightly. The first time I had met the boy, he had been fairly quiet and reserved but it hadn't taken him long to come out of his shell.

"Will you do the honors of reading this?" Ethan asked as he handed the young man a manilla envelope.

With confusion on his face Asher pulled papers from inside and started to read it out loud. "This certifies that Asher Myles Walker has been formally adopted into the Moore/Wright family by..." His strong confidant voice trailed off quietly as his head whipped around to look at Ethan and Derek. "Wait. Is this for real? Are you serious?"

"Very serious buddy." Ethan scrubbed his hand over Asher's blond hair. It was much shorter than the last time I had seen it, no longer hiding his eyes. "You're our family. And family isn't made from blood, it's made from love."

Everyone in attendance cheered and shouted in agreement with that statement. Most of the people here Ethan referred to as family and yet he wasn't blood related to hardly any of them. That was just how their family worked. It was beautiful if you asked me.

As I watched the heartwarming scene unfold in front of me, my phone began to buzz incessantly in my pocket. After the fourth buzz, I scurried from the living room, following the hallway towards the back of the house, pulling my phone out of my pocket. "Remy speaking."
