Yearning

My heart froze, Steve wasn't going to wake up? My partner? My best friend? The dumber to my dumb? I started to breathe quickly. I grabbed the notebook and wrote, but my hand was shaking.

'I wanna go to Mira' it was messier than normal, clearly I wasn't thinking fully straight, but I desperately needed my friend. Needed to at least see him even if he wasn't gonna wake up.

"DK-" Sapnap started to say, a slight concerned look on his face. He wasn't gonna take me, no one was gonna take me. I needed to see Steve. I gave him a look, the look that people always say they can't say no too. I could only hope it would work this time. He sighed and gave in. "I'll see what I can do," he said and left.

But I already knew the answer from Dream would be no. He was stubborn, almost as stubborn as Hafu. But he wouldn't care, he wouldn't understand. I wasn't gonna see Steve.

I felt tears leak from my eyes. No, no, no. Please, let the answer be yes, please let the answer let me go see Steve. I needed to see him. I cried, I was crying. The only person I wanted next to me was Steve, so it wasn't helpful when Tommy came in.

I heard stories about the boy and expected him to make fun of me, but he didn't. He spoke softly, placing a gentle hand on my back.

"Dropships tonight, don't tell anyone," he said and left. I watched him, confusion on my face. Was he gonna help me get to Steve? Was I gonna see him? Or was this a prank? A sick twisted joke?

I had to take the chance, no matter what happened I needed to get to Mira. I grabbed the notepad and summoned my private one using the magic

'Steve not gonna wake up?
Tommy ally?'

They of course weren't complete sentences, my brain was too fried for that. I wanted to talk, I wanted to hear Steve's voice telling me everything would be ok. I wanted to hear Janet telling me to be safe. I wanted to hear Scott saying that he wanted to cuddle.

I wanted to respond to all the memories as I stared at the last page in my book. The one what Wilbur had told me about Scott. The words still bounced around my head, making it hurt even worse

I made it vanish in a flash of purple fire. I pulled my legs to my chest and rested my chin on them. Memories flashed through my head of the countless missions I had been on, of all the time I had spent with my crew.

Now all I had to do was wait until midnight and not get caught.
