Like magic, Ron walked into the compartment.
"Victoria!" He exclaimed, embracing her. They melted into the hug, grateful to be with their familiar friend. "Who's this?" He asked with a strange expression on his face. He pulled away from her just the slightest bit, anyone else would've made no note of it, but Victoria knew Ron all too well, and knew something was up.
"Ed, Ed Sheeran" The stranger revealed, extending out his hand to Ron. He took it with ease, "Ron Weasley."
Watching the two, Victoria noted how similar they were. If it weren't for their opposing auras, they would've thought Ed was just another Weasley brother.
"Bloody Hell! Your hand is freezing!" Ron exclaimed, flinching away.
"Ron!" Victoria scolded.
"It's okay," Ed laughed. "I get that all the time, should've learned by now I guess." His expression was gentle, almost apologetic, as if he was the one who'd insulted a stranger.
"He's not usually like this. Usually he-"
They were cut off by a loud jostling of the compartment door.
"Ed? Is that you in there?" A sweet voice with a faint country accent called.
Ed's face noticeably brightened, "Yea, hold on a second." He fidgeted with the door until it opened, a new figure walking in the room.
If this was a movie, Victoria would've gasped at the sight of her. She was tall, towering over their 4'2 frame, and had identically startling blue eyes to Ed's. Her golden hair curled almost perfectly to fit her face, as if she'd walked straight out of a Vogue cover.
"Ed! Thank goodness you're-" Halfway through her sentence she startled, noticing the other two figures in the room. "Merlin, I'm sorry! If I'd known y'all were in here I wouldn't have walked in so unannounced. Are these your friends, Ed?"
"Nah, we just met now. Ron was telling me about my shockingly frigid grip."
Ron darkened a little, clearly embarrassed. "Sorry about that again.."
"Lighten up a bit, will you? Just teasing. Taylor, this is Ron Weasley," Ed explained. "Unfortunately, I haven't yet caught the name of the of the other wizard in our company."
"Oh! Um, Victoria," They spit out, nervously. Both Ed and Taylor's eyes were on them now, perhaps expecting them to say more.
"Right. Well, I'm Taylor, obviously... Ed, could we maybe talk.." She paused her sentence, now glaring coldly at the two strangers across from her. "Privately?"
What was her deal? Taylor had seemed at least a bit eager to meet them, but now acted like she'd rather swallow a slug than be in a room with them for over a minute.
"Perfect timing! Victoria and I have LOTS of other friends we're already late to visiting, so if you don't mind, Edward, we'll be on our way." With that, Ron left the compartment, pulling Victoria along with him.
"Can you believe her?" Victoria gawked.
"Right, and her accent. It's totally fake, you know?" Ron laughed.
They found an empty compartment and continued their conversation. As they caught up with each other, Victoria felt her heart swell. Her third year was already starting to become all that she'd hoped for, all because of Ron.
