Christmas Eve, at 7:30 PM.
My oldest and youngest daughters, Araceli and Angelina, were in the kitchen with me making cookies for tonight. The window was slightly open, letting in a little breeze, as the kitchen was getting quite hot from the oven, not to mention the fireplace was also active. The kitchen window revealed a beautiful view of the backyard, which was covered in inches of the beautiful snow every child hoped for around this time of year.
The rest of our family were snuggled up together on the couch watching the newer version of the grinch, each with a cup of hot coco and marshmallows. We were waiting for Trey to return from work so we could all have a Christmas movie night before bed. He also has the presents we both wrapped together the night prior to this day in the car, as we didn't trust any of our kids snooping around the gifts.
Araceli, my oldest, who is 14 years old, was decorating the santa themed cookies i had just taken out of the oven. Meanwhile, Angelica, 7 years old, was stuffing her mouth with the candy that I bought to decorate the cookies. The chocolate chip cookies we had began to prepare for santa was still in the oven.
Around 7:55, I heard a car pull into the driveway. Looking outside the window, I see Trey, beginning to take out the christmas gifts perfectly wrapped that sat in his trunk. I quickly put on my faint pink winter jacket and my uggs, and went outside to go help my husband take in the presents.
