In a temple of the Astral Gods and male shapeshifter name Jacob gave birth to a healthy baby girl and named her Kai, Jacob's mate/husband Edward twin brother of Sylva Via Fleuret ran to Jacob and smiled as he looked at his daughter. "She's perfect, Jacob." Edward said. "That she is, but we can keep her safe Ed, not with Niflheim after her." Jacob said. Niflheim has heard about the last of the shapeshifter tribe and heard that Jacob was pregnant and planned on killing the parents and using Kai for their own gain. Before Kai was born, 5 of the 6 gods blessed Jacob's infant with their powers.
"I know Jacob, I know a place where she can safe. Let's get out of here, the Niffs are coming." Edward said as Jacob got up after handing Edward their daughter, the shapeshifters have the power to heal quick enough to move but not enough to shift. The couple got in the car, and drove from the temple before the Niflheim blow up the temple.
It took a a few days about the couple arrived to the boarder of the Crown City Insomnia, home of the Lucis Royal Family. The guards knew Edward and Jacob and allowed them in. They arrived at the Citadel and pleaded to King Regis to take Kai and hide her from Niflheim. King Regis immediately agreed and placed Kai in the hands of one of his trusted friends Cor Leonis, Commander of the Crownsguard. After that, Edward and Jacob bid their daughter goodbye and left without a trace.
From then on Kai has been raised by Cor and joined the Crownsguard and the Kingsglaive as soon as she graduated High School and got the nickname 'Kai the shifter'. Everyone but her childhood friend Noctis and her friend Prompto knows about her family lineage.
