Darkness crept within. I could only feel the cool ground beneath me. Was I dead or close to it? No I thought I was alive, fully alive. I feel the throbbing within my body. I wanted to awaken but my body itself refused it. I wanted to scream in frustration. Thinking to myself that just hours before me, Abby Johnson, was just a “sixteen” year old secret vampire heading to a house party of a friends trying to blend in. Could have someone found out my secret? As I laid there I kept replaying in my mind what had happened to me and maybe even know where I was. I heard the door open. Who was there? My mind was fearful knowing how vulnerable I was at that moment. The slowly paced footsteps circled me and stopped. I was being watched like an animal trapped in a cage. Then his voice calm yet frightening spoke “Abby you are quite the gorgeous young thing and quite a dangerous one too.” How did he know my name? Questions filled my brain that soon I could not feel the throbbing that had once owned my body. I felt the cloudiness of my body start to melt away and my eyes fluttered open.

The room was a dark shade of grey with a window, a chair and a coffee table I assumed this room wasn’t used much. I could barely make out his face at first. My eyes soon adjusted he was standing by the window. He was about six three, His dark hair as dark as the night sky had been that night. His eyes were a golden green and seemed serious. He had no visible tattoos. This man I’ve never met nor seen in my life time. “Who are you and what do you want with me?” my voice shaky yet firm. “You will soon have all the answers to all of your questions Abby.” He said. “Let me introduce myself, my name is Luke.” He paused. “I know you’ve never met me before but I certainly know a lot about you.” His tone made me flinch. I stared fiercely at him and said “How?” I thought to myself was he against me or was he there for me. “Oh Abby I watched from a distance but I know everything. For instance what you are.” I sat there trying to think if at any moment did I make it obvious? I tried to sound more confident “Then what am I?” he laughed which angered me and said. “All in good time my dear Abby.” I tried to listen into his thoughts. Nothing. “Who are you? My voice not sounding like my own. “That my dear is what you are.” My mind wondered tracing through my history. I knew others like me existed but not until now have I met another.

Our stares looked past the eyes and deep within each other as if trying to read another’s soul. I kept my face unreadable. His face was not of fear nor anger it was empty no emotion it made me question him. I got to my feet. I was average height, skinny blonde and blue eyes like a crystal blue. I stared at him like a tiger stalking it’s pray. My eyes never left his face as I circled him as he to me moments ago. I stopped behind him. “I want answers and I want them now.” I ordered. “Well then why don’t we sit and chat so I can give you those answers.” He said in a sarcastic tone. “Why are you here or why am I here?” I asked “You’re here so I can protect you Ms. Johnson.”  He said “I was sent here to keep tabs on you. From what it looks like you’ve adapted way to well in the human life style.” His comment made the need to prove him wrong. I knocked him to the ground. “Not as well as you think Luke. I may look like one but my instincts tell you otherwise.” I smirked and rose off him. “Now tell me what exactly do I need “protection” from?” “Well if you let me finished before you would have already known.” I hated his attitude already. “Anyways you need to be protected from Marcus the vampire who want you dead.” He was the one who haunted my dreams. From them I knew how cold he was. I was in a complete stare. The next thing I know I hear Luke trying to comfort me. “Look” I said. “I don’t want your sympathy or you to look at me as if I was helpless because I am a hundred times stronger than you think I am. I need to know that I can trust you and I know you need to know that you can trust me. We need to build trust.” That was going to be difficult for me. I never trusted anybody. “I completely agree.” He said with a cheesy smile across his face. To think just moments before he was serious. Then I remembered I couldn’t read his mind which frustrated me. He saw the frustration on my face. “What are you thinking over there Abby?” “It’s nothing just about what our next move is.” He knew I was lying just by my face but still played along and said “Oh, well it’s to get you out of town of course.” My body language had no change. He knew very well something was wrong. How did he know me so well for barely knowing me? How much I wished to see what was going on through his mind. He came towards me. “Now tell me the truth this time. What’s wrong?” “It’s nothing important.”  I was being stubborn and he and I both knew it.
