"One, two, three…darn. One, two, thr-damn." He threw the ball at the sealed door, and he slouched onto the slab he called a bed. "Sir Calvin what shall we do today?" A man appeared with a cane and fancy coat with tails with the twirl of his mustache and adjusting his monocle, he answered.
"Well, Sir Kelly I wouldn't mind going to wonderland.
"Calvin, You read my mind." Kelly stared at the blank grey wall and began to see swirls open up revealing green grass and blue skies. Kelly felt the warm sun beating down on his pale skin. All he wanted was right with him. "Calvin this is just what I need." He teared up just a bit. His arms outstretched to take in the light that he has missed so much.
With the sound of a screech, Kelly saw wonderland deteriorate. When ever wonderland was near it was always evanescent. He found himself in the far corner of a small room. A giant man walked in and put handcuffs on his already irritated wrists. "Has it been 22 hours already?"
"Yes,." The uniformed man looked down and saw a staple on the ground. "Kelly we told you no staples."
"It's not a staple! It's my ball."
"Im sorry but you could get hurt."
"Now how am I suppose to play my game?"
"Use your imagination Kelly."
"Easy for you to say you're not the one trapped inside this box." The man guided Kelly out into the hallway. As Kelly walked in his orange jumpsuit he heard snide remarks from grown men behind bars. He tried not to look at them, at the floor at the wall trying to find a shred of light…nothing. Sir Calvin walked up beside him.
"You know this all because of what you did." Kelly tried not to speak. He had to see someone last time he talked to him in front of others. "You shouldn't have hit him. Hell, you shouldn't have stabbed him."
"When can I go home?" His voice showed his fear.
"Once your trial is ready then you'll be sentenced." The guard spoke.
"Why am I here?"
"You stabbed a man that almost killed him."
"No, Why am I here I'm only 16. This place is for adults."
"Time to grow up kid." The man put him back in his room. Kelly saw the walls closing in. HIs breath got short and heavy. He lost count of the days, and he felt numb all over. He didn't see Calvin. He hasn't seen anyone in such a long time. He walked over to the corner and touched the cold wall. He lost it.
He turned around and banged on the inside of the door. "Take me out! I don't want to be here! Get me out!." The guard had to walk away. He couldn't stand hearing him. He stood by another guard.
"Poor kid."
"I know, but he's there for his own good…right?"
"I guess, I mean who knows what the other inmates would do to him."
"So we don't know what they would do? So we put them in solitary?"
"Well yeah, thats how it works."
Kelly sat there and tried to find another staple for his game. "Your suffering when you don't have to."
"Yeah I know Calvin." He finally found one. He tried to pull it out. It cut his finger. The second he felt the pain. He felt better. The second he saw the blood he wanted to go further. He looked deep into the drop of blood on his finger.
