It took us twenty awkward minutes in the car to get to the house where the party was being held. It was awkward because being in a dress makes me feel so uncomfortable. I feel like I'm showing the world parts that the world doesn't need to see. Also, I was still quite annoyed with the fact that Ashlee was dragging me along to this party.
"Callie. Please smile a little. Please. It's gonna be so much fun. I swear if you hate it we'll leave. Promise." She put the car in park and looked at me. I looked back and felt guilty. She'd stayed home nights when she could've been out because I hadn't wanted to go so I guess I owed her one.
"Deal." I smiled slightly and looked out the window one last time before having to face a social gathering.
"Thank you. Thank you!" She squealed with excitement and burst out of the car. "Come on!" I got out of the car slowly and decided to leave my book. It was kind of pretty out here. Maybe I'd just go on a walk or something.
The scenery didn't change from what I saw in the car. There were Palm trees and flowers growing along the driveway and about 100 yards away was a massive house. It was the only one for at least half a mile and it was absolutely beautiful. The water sparkled in the almost setting sun. It was peaceful if you ignored the loud music and the people everywhere.
I followed Ashlee between the parked cars and up the stairs. There was at least ten people on the front porch. Mostly sandy haired boys in tanks, and girls wearing short shorts and crop tops. Seemed like a typical beach party to me.
"Who are we looking for exactly?" I hadn't known who had even invited us but I did know someone did. Most likely some guy Ashlee hooked up with once or twice.
"Sammy." She smiled so big. I was right. He was kind of a dick to everyone. He had blonde hair and blue eyes, and was very attractive but his personality killed it. "His cousin owns this place."
We walked in the front door slowly, careful not to hit anyone. You could tell the party had been going on for at least an hour by now because there was a ton of people and everyone was enjoying themselves.
The first 30 minutes of parties were always awkward. People were just showing up and know one really knew what to start. It just kind of happened as more people came.
I could smell the liquor, but you could also tell the party hadn't been going on too long because no one was over their heads drunk, yet.
"Babe. Hey!" I heard someone yell from my left and both Ashlee and I turned. It was Sammy. He was standing with two other guys who looked just as douche baggy as him. One had spiked brown hair and the other had blonde medium length hair.
"AHH! Baby!" Ashlee ran to him and jumped into his arms. Their relationship kind of creeped me out. They weren't dating but they acted like they were. The only thing that made them not have the "girlfriend/boyfriend" title was the fact that he had a girlfriend. She lived in another county but Ashlee was so "in love" that she didn't even care.
I walked up to them and stood there awkwardly waiting for her to get down and stand like a normal person. The other two guys didn't bother introducing themselves which made it even more awkward.
"I see you brought Cassie." He set Ashlee down and looked at me half annoyed and half unsure of why I came.
"It's Callie." I replied annoyed. He knew my name but yet he intentionally called me something different each time I saw him. Sammy hated me because I hated ignorant people. I prefer being around literate people and he probably couldn't even spell literate.
It only took me 20 minutes of standing around by a wall not doing much before I wanted to bail. I wasn't going to do that to Ashlee, however, so when she was off dancing on Sammy I decided to take my walk.
