This WIP was based on my friend's AU (which you should definitely check out) so credits to them!

It's a modern Genshin AU, if you're not into these types of stuff feel free to read something else. :)

Kinda platonic Xiaoven??

Venti's POV:

Now-a-days, Xiao visits a lot more often than before and he always brings his flute. Every moment we spend together is precious and nothing can change that.

I'm certain I'll cherish moments like these forever, whether here or from above.

He brought Aether once along with him, he was kind of relieved to see me to say the least. I mean with the whole thing with Lumine he must be very stressed out, so I don't blame him.

Every time Xiao leaves I feel myself falling into a never-ending darkness, waiting for the light. My light.

I'm always worried that one day he'll stop coming and there'll be darkness forever. But... I'm trying to be a little more... I don't know. Just not how I feel now.

I haven't been getting better at all, in fact it's always the opposite.

Some times I catch myself walking out of my room and looking at a door to my left. There always seems to be a certain female there, just standing and waving.

She had deep purple hair with bright tips at the end of it, reminded me of my hair back when it used to be that way. Her violet eyes suited the pale-ish complexion of her face.

??: "Hello Venti."
V: "Hi..."

Ei? Was that her name? I wasn't sure but I went ahead with my instincts.

She looked very young, maybe just a couple years older than me. I was uncertain whether it was a compliment or insult, because Ei was a mother. Apparently her son was about the same age as me, maybe I've met him before.

I've met her wife too, she's really nice as far as I recall. She does have a thing for teasing though... but she knows the line very well, I'll give her that.

E: "How I wish things remained eternal when it should've.. Turns out I hoped for the wrong eternity."
V: "... I know what you mean. I hoped for things to be better, but....."
E: "..."
E: "How's your friend?"
V: "Who?"
E: "The one who looks a lot like you.. a little shorter though. He always brings a flute with him. He also visits you often..?
V: "Oh Xiao, yeah he's fine.. wait. How'd you know he plays the flute?
E: "Whenever he plays it to you I hear it, the walls are little on the thinner side for the music apparently. It's relaxing and it helps me calm down, even Miko enjoys it a lot. We always stay silent and listen, our problems fading away almost instantly. If my son could take a listen it might do him some good."

So I'm not to only one who enjoys it.. wow. Not an unimpressed one, quite the opposite really. I was deciding on whether or not to tell Xiao when someone interrupted my thoughts.

Y: "My my, look who it is! I was wondering who my darling must've been chatting so intently with."
V: "Hello Miss Yae."
Y: "Awww, why do you sound so down in the dumps? Is someone not happy to see me?"
V: "Miss Yae..!"

I always feel a little better when I talk to them. But it wasn't like when I'm around Xiao. He made me feel so much better. He was the reason I felt, the reason I didn't give up. He's the reason I'm still getting up everyday, opening my eyes to greet the boring and life-depriving room. He's the reason why I live.
