It was a new day in a new place. I was actually excited because I've heard such good things about here and I've finally made it here. I parked my car in the parking lot for the apartment I was staying in. I got out of the car and walked inside with a smile on my face. I was so happy to be able to start a new life now. As soon as I settled myself there my phone began ringing. I groaned and looked at the caller ID. It was my younger sister, May. I reluctantly pressed on the answer button. I put the phone up to my ear and said, "Hello?"
"Jason, hey!" She spoke into the phone, "Hey, listen. I'm coming over to see your new apartment soon, okay? And I'm bringing my friend, Valerie. "
I scrunched my face at the mention of a friend. "Why are you bringing someone with you?" I asked.
"We're going somewhere afterwards, there's no time to waste, alright? See you later."
And with that, she hung up the phone.I arranged some of my crap that was laying around and changed into some better clothes than the ones I drove here with. By the time I finished most of the things I wanted to, there was knocking on my door. I looked through the hole and saw that it was my sister and her friend. I opened the door and smiled widely. "Jay Jay!" My sister exclaimed, tightly wrapping her arms around me. I did the same thing and slightly picked her up off the ground. I put her back down after a matter of seconds, remembering her friend was just standing there. We both pulled away and looked at her. She was smiling at us before she looked at me and began to speak.
"Hi, I'm Valerie." She said, smiling shyly. She was actually really cute.
"Hey, I'm Jason." I shot her a wide smile. We kind of all just stood there until May spoke up, "Well, Jay, your place looks great and you should expect me here a lot because it's much better than Mom's place. We've gotta run, so see you later!"
"Alright, see you. Nice meeting you Valerie," I said, still smiling at her. They walked out the door and into their car as I waved goodbye to them. I shut the door and sat down on the couch. It was so boring here with nobody around. I was so used to having my two siblings around to annoy the hell out of me, along with my parents. So, this was good and bad at the same time. I sighed and got up to walk around, because I had absolutely nothing better to do. I went into my room and looked through the closet. I had some pretty decent clothes in there, so I decided I could go somewhere and meet some people from around here. I left my room after changing, grabbed my jacket and keys and headed out the door. I got in and started my car, turning on the radio. I drove around the neighborhood and a bit outside of it before I saw a Club Risque. I looked for a parking spot and got out of the car. After I went through the semi long line I finally got in and went straight to the bar. Not to get drunk, but just to sit there and see who comes along. I guess this was the best way to meet people here. I sat on the swivel chair and waited. And waited and waited. Eventually I just got tired of sitting there doing nothing, while the slutty bartender asked me if I wanted a drink every 10 seconds, so I was just about ready to get up and leave.
Someone plopped in the seat next to me and said to the bartender, "Surprise me." I looked out of the corner of my eye and noticed a pretty familiar face. I turned my head completely to look at the person clearer and it was my sister's friend, Valerie. She immediately locked eyes with me and smiled. "Hi, Jason!" She exclaimed. I smiled back.
"Hey, Valerie." I'm glad I remembered her name. It would be pretty embarrassing if I hadn't.
"How are you?" she asked.
"I'm good, how about you?"
"Pretty good." she smiled again. Her smile was so beautiful and just addicting.
Naturally, I smiled back, "That's good, right?"
She nodded and slightly frowned, "I went through a hard time before, but yeah. So, what's up?"
I looked at her and asked, "Do you mind if I ask you what happened?"
She took a sip of her drink and shut her eyes tightly, "Not at all. It's just my boyfriend," She paused and opened her eyes again. I bit my lip. Of course she has a boyfriend. "Actually, my ex-boyfriend." I quietly sighed in relief. I've actually still got a chance. "He was hanging out with this girl who bullied me. She made me feel insecure and he broke up with me because of my insecurities. ""Oh... I'm really sorry."
"It's okay, I've gotten over it. I'm just still confused on why he'd break up with me for insecurities." She drifted off toward the end of her sentence. I signaled at the bartender to bring me a drink."Because he's stupid," I took a sip of it, "But most guys out there are."
"Yeah." She flashed her award winning smile yet again, "But anyway, what's up?"
"Nothing really, I just came here looking for something to do," I said. I noticed her perk up and I smiled to myself.
"Me too, " She smiled widely. "Anything in mind?" she asked.
I shook my head slowly, "No, not really." She nodded and bit her lip, and God it was so sexy. "Do you?"
"I mean, what do you like to do? I don't have a clue either."
"I don't know. I'm boring," I shrugged.
"Not to me," she grinned.
"Thanks." I couldn't help but to smile, "What do you like to do?"
"I like to do photography a lot," she hopped off of the chair.
"We could go take pictures," she nodded, "Where do you want to go?"
She quickly suggested that we go to the park. I agreed. She grabbed my hand, pulling me off the chair and out the door of the club. I laced our fingers together and she smiled at me. but looked away quickly. She started walking, though."No, hurryyyy," I whined. Unexpectedly, she stopped and jumped on my back, putting her legs on my shoulders. I held onto her legs and kept running. I looked up at her to see her smiling. "I dunno which way to go." She told me to go left, so I did.
She held on to me tighter and gasped, "Gosh, you're fast."
I chuckled and told her, "I have long legs."
She nodded in agreement and muttered a 'true'. I laughed and kept running. She kissed my cheek and I smiled widely.
"I would kiss your cheek, but I can't because... obvious reasons." She giggled as I kept running. All of the giggling turned into cracking up, all of the small talk turned into deep conversations, and all the small gestures could have turned into more.
