Chill Day

[Reina]

"So what do you wanna do today?" Skylar texts me while I'm doing homework. I type up a quick "I don't know" and continue working. I'm actually focused this time, well I'm doing the best I can to the sounds of New York and my mom blasting music from what I think is the 70's while she makes lunch for me and my brother. So yeah, that plus the smell of yummy food doesn't help my situation, but I'm managing. I'm doing math but luckily for myself, I'm good at math, so this takes me a few minutes to get done. Then I send Skylar a picture of it so she can get the answers for it. 'Sharing the wealth' as I would put it. Others consider it cheating though. But hey, as long as the teacher doesn't find out then we'll be fine. Mom calls me and my brother to come grab the food she made us shortly after I send Skylar the answers. I grab my phone and text Skylar:

"Meet up at the park?"

"Yep as soon as I get done with this homework."

I put my phone away and eat. Mom made hotdogs, so I manage to finish quickly. I leave once I finish and wash my plate out. The streets of New York can get noisy, so I put in my earbuds to drown out the noise. After making my way through the crowded sidewalk, I arrive at the park and sit on the third bench, the same bench I always sit on while I wait for Skylar.

Here I am, trying to focus on my homework, while resisting the urge to draw or listen to music. If Reina didn't send me the answers then I'd most likely be sitting here sketching something random that popped into my brain. The homework was a breeze thanks to Reina. She makes a lot of stuff easier, mostly since she either gives me the answers or breaks down the work into a way that she knows I can easily understand. So anyways, I get the homework done and make my way to the park. I see Reina sitting on a bench when I arrive, so I sit next to her. She can't hear me with headphones on, so I tap her shoulder a bit.

"Hey Reina."

"Hey Sky! So what are we gonna do today?"

"I dunno." I say with a shrug.

She always seems to be so cheerful, despite the barrage of tests we had today. I don't see how she does it, but there's nothing wrong with it.

[Reina]

I suggest our usual thing: walk around until we get an idea. She agrees and stands up. I get up with her and start walking. I also hold her hand. Her hands are sooooo soft I can't resist it! Why does my best friend have such soft hands?!

[Skylar]

Once again, she's holding my hand. It doesn't bother me, so I let it happen. We walk and talk about our usual stuff, y'know, school, life, stuff like that. We lose track of time, and before we know it, it is getting dark.

"Reina, its getting dark. We should head home."

"Alrighty, I'll see you tomorrow!"

Reina and I walk our seperate ways.

[Reina]

Luckily for me, my house isn't too far from where we currently were. I wish it didn't get dark so soon though. We didn't even get to talk about our crushes! Oh well, there's always tomorrow. Maybe I'll ask her at school, during lunch. And maybe I could set her up with her crush! She'd probably blush like crazy, but it'll be worth the embarrassment! She'll thank me later. Anyways, time for bed!

It took me a while, but I made it home. We didn't get to talk about crushes, which I personally don't mind. All it takes is one name and she'd try to set me up with them. God, I'm already blushing just thinking of my crush. Thankfully, I'm in my room, so nobody can see how red my face is. Well, I hope she doesn't bring up crushes while we're at school. That would be MEGA embarrassing.
