Chapter III: The Olsen Family
NORWAY, 1501
Racing through the bushes, panting, Kevin had one thought on his mind: home. Breaking through the bushes, the voice of his sibling pierced his ear.
"There he is!" Shouted Mason. In the eleven years since the Olsen family's rebirth, Mason's bond with his father had only grown stronger. Mason had picked up on every one of his father's bad traits, as Mason assumed that everything his father did was good.
"Get the wee bastard!" Yelled Victoria, eager to display her hunting skills to the family so that she may be allowed to start providing for the family.
Kevin continued sprinting as he looked back, terrified of his siblings. This was not the first time Kevin had experienced hazing at the hands of his siblings, and he knew it would not be the last. Harassment from his siblings is all Kevin knew, from the moment he could walk on his own he was knocked over by one sibling or another. As he ran and turned his head forward, he laid eyes upon the twins, Owen and Nicole. Inseparable since birth, Owen and Nicole shared a connection unlike any of the other siblings. Unfortunately for Kevin, their connection often manifested in their bullying him as the pair tackled young Kevin to the ground. Before long, Mason and Victoria had caught up to the twins having Kevin pinned to the ground.
"You're a slippery little rat, you know that?" Taunted Mason. "Shame for you is that you're not slippery enough." Mason stomped Kevin's stomach while letting out a laugh.
"Help!" Kevin yelped, trying to reach towards his home.
Victoria's foot came down on Kevin's hand hard. Hearing a crunch from his hand, Victoria backed away immediately. For all the torture she put her youngest brother through, she never got any better with broken bones.
"Come on, Vic don't do it," pleaded Nicole.
"It's absolutely gross," Owen pointed out.
All their pleading for naught, Victoria began to vomit. Owen, Nicole, and Mason all looked away from the weak stomached Victoria. Kevin didn't care much for the scene; he was in too much pain anyways.
"Well," started Mason, "you might as well do it with her!" Mason once again stomped on Kevin's stomach, more forcefully this time. This blow was enough to get Kevin to vomit also. A mixture of blood and his breakfast. Kevin already didn't eat much, so every time he threw up was agony. With Mason, Owen, and Nicole laughing at Kevin's pain, a voice is heard.
"That's enough you four," the familiar voice rang.
Looking up to see, Kevin's gaze landed upon his oldest brother Max. Kevin smiled, as he knew Max would be there to protect him.
"Get back to the house, all of you," commanded Max. As Mason, Victoria, Owen, and Nicole left to the house, Max approached Kevin. "How are you?" He asked his crying brother.
Through the tears, Kevin managed a single word. "Good," he replied.
"No, you're not," Max replied. Still the leader of his siblings, Max struggled to keep his siblings from ganging up on Kevin. Max took pity on Kevin because he saw much of himself in Kevin.
"How would you know?" asked Kevin, struggling to get up with a broken hand and curb stomped stomach.
"Because I'm your brother," answered Max, "also because I'm pretty sure fingers don't bend that way," he continued, pointing to Kevin's hand. Max put his arm around his brother to give him some stability. "let's get you back to the house, mother is waiting," he said. Kevin's blood dripping from his mouth, the brothers walked back to the Olsen family house.
