That night after I had returned to my room I couldn't quite fall asleep. For hours I laid there in my bed thinking of the boy I had met. He was different than anyone I had ever met. I sat up, I couldn't lay here any longer. I walked out of my room and towards the tower again, up the spiral steps and to the top. I got about halfway up the stairs when I heard a second set of footsteps behind me. I froze, oh god who is behind me. I hear the steps continue behind me, getting closer and closer.
"W-Who's there..?" I ask down the stairs. The footsteps stop. Whoever was following me knows I know they are there now. "It's me, the new guard... I'm sorry for following you. I thought maybe you were trying to sneak out or something.." I hear his footsteps begin again. I also continue walking up towards the top. "Well since you're already following me you might as well see what I was planning to do," I said to him, I sat down on the top floor of the tower. I stare out the window and wait on the boy, he walks up and he bows to me. "Your highness.." I give him a weird look, "Don't address me like that, just come sit." I pat the spot next to me and he comes and sits down. He looks over at me and smiles, I smile back and then look out the window. Looking over the city at night is so much better than during the day. "Throughout the day it's always so busy looking in the city." I tell him, "But at night it all dies down and you can see straight over it all. To the forest..." I ramble on about the forest and how I've wanted to visit there for so long. At one point or another I get off-topic and start asking him about himself we sit there for hours upon hours talking to each other. It is the most social interaction I've had in years... He asked me all sorts of questions about the kingdom, he grew up in a kingdom pretty far from ours so he didn't even know my name. So at that point, I told him my name was Kathyrn and that if he liked he could call me Katie. I asked his name and he told me, Levi. We stayed up the whole night on that tower. Talking about the kingdom what I thought of it and then we got onto the topic of me ruling the kingdom...
"I don't want to be a ruler like everyone else is wanting... They all expect me to go marry into power or marry someone to become a king here" I start to tell him. "Well, what do u want to do Katie?" He asked me in a caring tone. "See that forest over there Levi? That's what I want to do. I want to go and explore what looks like endless trees. I have never left the castle walls.. I've never been on an adventure of my own..." I tell him trailing off at the end. "Then let's go. I'll take you, I've been in the forest many times so I bet I could take u through some of it, and as a guard, I can protect you." He offered me, he stood up and put out his hand to me as well. I took his hand and stood as well. "Yes, please. I'd love to!" I answered. He kept holding my hand and lead me down the steps. "You should get to bed Princess it's very late." He lead me back to my room and opened the door for me. "Thank you, Levi... I can't wait to go to the forest with you.." I smiled looking up at him. He leaned down and kissed my forehead, "of course Katie I cant wait to take you there." he then let go of my hand and I went into my room. He is so perfect so amazing... I can't wait to be with him more. I lay down in my bed and quickly fell into a deep sleep.
I wake up in the morning to some maids fussing over me saying I overslept breakfast and going on and on about me. I hear someone knock on my door and one of the maids go over and open the door. It was Levi, "May I come in?" he asked the maid. "No, absolutely not, you must leave go be with the other guards don't you have duties to attend to?" The maid went on with that. "Amy. Quit. Maids leave please let the guard in." I spoke up and said. This was the first time I had ordered anything of my maids I usually let them do as they pleased and kind of let them do what they were told to by my parents and such. The maids seemed taken aback and then they left. Levi walked in and smiled "I've never seen you be so demanding princess." he laughed at me. "I told you that you can call me Katie." I tell him. "Well, I'm gonna call you princess. Got it, princess?" He tells me. "Get ready by the way I ran it past your father and he is letting me take you to the forest." "Really!?" I exclaim. "Yes really, now come on ill meet you at the gat-" I run over and hug him before he can even finish his sentence. He hugs me and smiles down at me. "You excited?" he asks me. "Yes.. so excited." I tell him and then I run off to get ready as he leaves my room.
