On this story, I'll tell you about my personal experience when I was in SMK N 2 Purwokerto. At that time, I was in Machine Major grade 10 and preparing for the final exam for grade 10.A few months before the final exam. The teacher had already informed us about what would we do to complete the final exam. The task was to create a hammer from a raw steel. The teacher also said each students had different sizes to avoid cheating. When the time had come, I began to create my hammer.
First, I cut a raw steel according to the size that I received from the teacher before with cutting machine. After that I ground the steel until the surface's texture was smooth with grind machine and I also didn't forget to checked the steel to make sure it was perfect in size.
Second, I drew a diagonal line to gave direction where I'm going to cut the rest of steel. Then, I used hacksaw to cut the steel diagonally until the centre. After finished, I ground it again until the surface's texture was smooth without obstacles. When the texture was good, I went to the drill machine to make hole for the handle and I drilled the steel right into the centre. And the last step was to create a handle.
The handle was made from wood. Thankfully, the teacher had already provided us many types of woods to make a handle. I chose kalba wood which I thought it was good wood and began to cut it. I carved the wood with a knife and a sandpaper to smooth it out. After I finished the handle, I picked up the head hammer and began to attached it with the handle. After struggled many times, finally I was able to attached it.
I was very satisfied and happy with my own hammer even though I was tired. I felt that all of my effort have been paid off. It took a half day for me to made a complete steel hammer. That's the story of my experience. It also one of the best experience that I had. Thank you very much.
