Penelope with hope and kaleb, hope and kaleb were laughing about a stupid joke kaleb made, and Penelope found herself laughing with the two of them, as she rolled her eyes at them.

"You guys are so stupid." Penelope said and kaleb instantly shook his head back at her.

"You love us." Hope laughed, and Penelope instantly raised an eyebrow back at the girl.

"Whatever you say mikaelson."

Feeling the vibration of her phone, Penelope pulled out her phone, seeing a message from Taylor and she instantly furrowed her brows before opening up her message.

Taylor Penelope

Penelope hey, tay, what's up?

Taylor are you busy?

Penelope no I'm free, everything okay?

Taylor can i call you?

Penelope yes

Penelope was shocked, she didn't expect Taylor to want to call her. It made her nervous, the two girls had never talked on the phone before but Penelope didn't even have time to think before a FaceTime requested appeared on her phones screen.

Penelope didn't know what to expect from the girl, Taylor had never asked to talk on the phone before, and now on her birthday she was asking when she had already explained that she didn't like her birthday and why she didn't, and the messages she sent, Penelope could already tell something was off with the girl.

Penelope looked over at Hope and kaleb for a moment, "hey, I'll be right back."

Kaleb and hope both nodded as the two continued chatting away, both laughing at some joke as Penelope got up and walked away from the two of them.

She took in a deep breathe, preparing herself for what she would find when she answered the phone, and when she was out of ear shot, she quickly answered the phone.

"Taylor?" Penelope asked aloud as she saw nothing but a dark screen.

"Penelope," a soft voice spoke, before taylor appeared on the screen.

Penelope couldn't help but take in the girls appearance, she was just as pretty as in pictures. But, Penelope couldn't help but notice how frizzy the girls hair was, and her eyes were puffy and blood shot.

Penelope knew by one look that she must've been crying, despite the smile that Taylor had tried to hold on her thin lips.

"Taylor, are you okay?" Penelope asked and the girls bottom lip quivered as she looked down.

Taylor shook her head as tears built up in her eyes, and she soon looked back up at the screen

"I'm sorry, I don't want to bother you." Taylor began and Penelope quickly shook her head.

"Your not a bother, Taylor." She told the girl, and Taylor stared back at her through the screen with a sad smile on her lips. "What's going on?"

"I didn't know who else to talk to." The girl confessed sadly, and Penelope frowned.

"You can talk to me," Penelope told her, and Taylor slowly nodded.

"I didn't want to bother lexa, she's with family. And my mom, she... got stuck at work late." Taylor spoke weakly, and Penelope watched her sadly. "This day is just really getting me down, I didn't want to worry anyone but I really hate this day, and I shouldn't because it's my birthday, but I..."

"You what?" Penelope said gently, and Taylor looked down for a moment before looking back at her as a tear rolled down her cheeks.

"I hate my birthday," Taylor whispered before shaking it head. "It's always so hard before I can't celebrate with my dad, because he's gone, and I should be used to it by now, but I'm not."

"It's understandable, Taylor. You lost someone" Penelope said and Taylor nodded her head as tears rolled down her cheeks. "When you lose someone it stays with you, especially someone you were close to."

Penelope's heart broke for her, she hated seeing Taylor so upset, she just wanted to give her and hug and hold her in her arms.

"I feel terrible for it, like I'm a bad person for missing him." Taylor confessed and Penelope frowned at the girls words.

"Why?" Penelope asked her.

"Because I.." Taylor stammered before taking in a deep breathe. "The day I was born, I dad held me, just for a minute. Then he left and killed a church full of students, and then killed himself."

Penelope paused for a moment, watching Taylor closely, as more tears rolled down the girls cheeks and she looked down with such a pained expression on her face.

"He killed all those people," Taylor whispered. "And everyday, I'm stuck missing him like he didn't really take all those people from their families."

"He was your dad," Penelope told her, and Taylor slowly nodded. "Of course you wanted to see the good in him."

"We don't talk about him, me and my mom. Sometimes it's like she pretends he never existed." Taylor cried before shaking his head. "But he was sick, nobody would do that unless they were sick. And sometimes when my mom looks at me, I think she's scared I'm gonna end up the same way."

"Taylor." Penelope began

"Do you think I'm gonna be like my dad." Taylor's voice cracked as she stared back at Penelope and the park girl shook her head.

"I don't think you'd ever hurt anyone, you're too good." Penelope told her and Taylor slowly nodded as she wiped the tears from her eyes. "Listen Taylor, we are all our parents children but we aren't our parents."

"You're right," Taylor said softly before a small smile fell on her lips. "I get decide who I am."

"You do."

"Thanks Penelope, I didn't want to completely fall apart in front of you." Taylor breathed out as she stared back at her screen. "But I guess I really needed someone to talk to."

"I'm here for you, always." Penelope told her and Taylor smiled back at her.
