"If everyone was true, we wouldn't live like we do now. In worry."
-Me"Oh my god! Violet, I live your skirt!" Mackenzie calls form down the hall. I turn my head to look behind me. " Oh thanks" I call back. My skirt wasn't her style so I could tell she was being fake, like normal.
I had a brown skirt, with a blue Harvard sweatshirt on. My hair pinned up into a bun. I had a sliver necklace on that had Aquarius in old letters, also I had dangling heart earrings. This was not her style what do ever.
She literally wore a white skirt with a pink sweater everyday now. Or what seemed like everyday. Her clear heels showing off her new pedicure.
She waddles her way over to me. She puts her arm around me, and to my surprise and not to my surprise. She had a new set of acrylic nails. At this point I quit with acrylics, I only really got them to fit in with Mackenzie. So now I just paint my nails white.
We exit the main hallway and into our hallway, the senior hallway. I see Jacob getting stuff out of his locker. " Oh, look who it is" Mackenzie whispers, elbowing me in the shoulder. I frown deeply knowing exactly what was about it happen. " My god Mackenzie would you stop picking on him?" I ask demandingly. She chuckles. We continue to walk toward him. And she never answered my question.
"Hey Jacob "she says, walking over to him. He notices her, and hides behind her locker door. Mackenzie walks to where she is leaning on the locker next to his. " So how is your day going Jacob?" Mackenzie asks. I roll my eyes.
" Um...good I guess" Jacob asks, starting to flinch up so he can protect himself from what Mackenzie is about to do. That's when he sees me behind Mackenzie. " Hey Violet" He greets me. I smile warmly. " Hi Jacob" I greet him back. Mackenzie turns her head towards me and gives me a mean side eye.
" So, what you got there Jacob?" Mackenzie asks, slamming his locker door shut. The metal clashing against metal making a huge noise.
" I-It's just my books." Jacob tried to explain himself. Mackenzie couldn't have cared less though. Mackenzie slaps the book out of Jacob's hands. " What are you doing Mackenzie!" I yell through the hallway.
" Shut the fuck up Violet." Mackenzie yells, trying to match my yelling tone. I pause in shock. " What if I take your little nerd books?" Makenzie continues to mock Jacob. " Please don't I just want to get to class" Jacob tries to stand up for himself.
But does Mackenzie listen: no. He bends at the knees and picks up Jacobs books as he's trying to do the same. " Back up you creep!" Mackenize yells, as Jacob accidently bumps into her making her fall to the ground.
Jacob falls to at the sudden loud voice in his ear. Mackenize soon falls out of victim character and back into bitch. She picks up Jacob's journal and his book. " Oh, look what it is." Mackenize says, getting back to her feet, looking down at Jacob still franticly trying to find all his things.
Jacob looks up at what Mackenize his holding. " Please don't" he pleads. Mackenize smirks. " Look everyone the little piece of scum in begging for me to stop. Should I?" Mackenize asks the entire Sinor hallway.
Some people are gathered around watching and others are trying to make it class. "Read it! Read it! Read it!" The crowd start to chant. Jacob looked at me with defeat in his eyes. He just continued to sit on the ground while everyone around was calling him names while Mackenize started to turn the pages of his journal.
I should've stepped in sooner. Jacob and I had become close and he was a good person and did not deserve any of this. " Mackenize! Stop!" I yell, slapping the journal out of her hand, and back onto the ground in front of Jacob. Jacob quickly picks it up and holds it tight.
" You little whore!" Mackenzie yells, turning towards me and away from Jacob. She drops Jacob's book she picked up. Jacob also gets that book and stands up and gets the rest of his things and shuffles his way through the crowds. Everyone now more focused on Mackenize and I. " Mackenzie, I think you the whore here not me" I tell her, cold look on my face.
The crowd gasps. No one ever stands up to Mackenize cause her daddy has money and can get anyone's ass kicked out of here. But that's not what I was worried about. I was tired of Mackenzie getting away with everything. And ever since middle school she has. I was sick and tired of this bitch and if I got kicked out of this fancy public school with like zero rules I wouldn't care. And maybe if we do fight, I can knock those fake boobs right off her.
" You really want to fight me?" Mackenzie threats. I don't say anything. " Come on and fight me if you're not a worthless coward!" Mackenzie yells once again. My silence continues. I see her face get red with anger, and trust me her color is not red.
Her hand flies at me. She grabs my hair and starts to pull as hard as her new nails will allow her. I in turn throw my hand straight for her face, hitting her right in the eye. " Ouch" She yelps. Her grip on my hair is released as she goes to touch her eye. Tears start to roll down her perfectly round cheeks.
She falls to her knees starting to cry. " You are such a bitch." She says through her excessive tears. I nod and walk past her going to Jacobs first period. As I walk away from Mackenzie, I hear the whispers of mu peers. And I feel their judgmental eyes watching me.
I finally arrive to his first period. I poke my head around the door frame into the empty classroom. Or almost empty, as I see Jacob sitting at his desk writing in what I found to be his journal seconds ago.
" Hey Jacob" I call into the room. Jacob looks up from the book and at me. " Hey, sorry for making you do that by the way" He apologizes. I shake my head, walking towards his desk. " It's really nothing. You should have stayed to watch it. She's crying rivers of half tears half mascara right now." I joke, sitting at the empty desk to the right of Jacob.
He chuckles. I smile as well. " And by the way 'My Anonymous Poems' an amazing book" I say, looking down at the hard cover book laying on the side of his desk. He nods. "It's one of my favorites. This is my fourth time reading it." He tells me, picking up the book and looking at it. " Detication" I joke. A smile forms on his face.
He smiles is one of the purest I've seen since elementary school. He's an amazing person with horrible surroundings. And that's what changed most the people that were pure in elementary school. But Jacob was different, and I knew that.
