"Okay, okay. I'll go get something to drink."
The noise outside died down as I closed the entryway. I checked the time, said it was 9:34 p.m. Dang, no wonder my throat hurts. I grabbed a glass, filling it with water. It was gradually pouring as if nothing was coming out of it. That's weird. I didn't know there'd be maintenance.
When I looked at my drink, I saw from the glass' reflection a vague image at my back but vanished once I turned around. I swear I saw something. Or maybe my mind was playing tricks with me? I am exhausted.
I was about to lock the door when suddenly the lights began to flicker. I wasn't sure what was going on; my hand was still on the handle. It stopped where the lights went off, but when it turned on, a figure was standing right before me.
I don't know what it was; everything about it was pitch-black, from head to toe. The only part which wasn't dark was its eyes; those piercing white eyes struck a nerve out of me, and how its irises narrowed down at me. I didn't think twice and slammed the door shut.
I bolted to my room, saw my sister, and told her what had happened. She was confused at first, although she reassuringly said, "I'll take a look for myself." I felt relieved when she mentioned that, and once she closed the door, the shadowy figure was already behind it. I immediately hid underneath my blanket, repeating these words in my head, "If I can't see you, then you aren't real."
"You okay there?" she asked. I looked at the door, and it wasn't there anymore. I guess it was nothing at all. I smiled at my sister and laughed it all off.
"Sorry, you just scared me and all," scratching my head, my fear tone down.
"Well, I was about to tell you that no one was there and food is ready."
I got up from my bed, straightening my clothes. My sister turned around as I wore my slippers and when I took a glance at her, I was stunned. The dark figure was on her back all along. Its eyes stared intensely at me, lifting one of his hands towards me, and finally smiled.
