He leans on the wall,
so his body is facing her.
Unintentionally letting her know he's interested in their conversation.

She sits,
facing forward,
talking his ear off,
but never once stopping her writing.

She was just as interested as him,
but she was at school for a reason.
To learn,
and not even he could stop that.

He watches as she writes away,
she's so clever he thinks,
our kids will be cool and smart.

He starts making jokes,
hoping to get a smile.

He jokes about the teacher with the sweat stained shirt who's running out of class,
she doesn't normally laugh at others expense,
but he was so charming,
about everything.

She laughs,
covering her face with her hands,
dropping her pen on the desk.

He grins,
they both know what that means,
the drop of the pen.

They didn't know it then but that pen drop would lead to her dropping many more things for him.
Dropping everything for him,
her young adulthood,
her career,
her fiends and family.

But it's all in the name of love,
that means it's worth it.
Doesn't it?
