I smile warmly as I look over the letters from my pen pal, Laura.

Laura and I have been pen pals for months now. It all started when I found an ad in one of my magazines that says that I can connect with anyone through letters, and all I had to do was send in $20 and give them my name. Days later I got an email from the company saying who my pen pal is and that she would be sending me the first letter. And I got her letter 3 days later after that email.

In her letter, she told me that she's 15, and she's an only child, and she and her family move a lot. At first, I thought that it was cool that she got to meet new people and see different places all the time, but then she told me about how she always gets picked on by other normies because she's the new kid at school. And she's never had a single friend ever in her life. And worst of all, her parents are never around to support her or comfort her whenever she's sad. I felt bad for her, she's all alone out there and there's nothing I can do except write comforting letters for her.

They seem to work cause she writes back saying how thankful she is for having me understand her. It made me feel good that I'm at least doing something for her.

In her latest letter, she wrote that she and her parents moved to New Salem. That's close by to here! It made me so voltageously excited that I wanted to go through the catacombs and go to New Salem and see her for the first time! But then I remember that she doesn't know that I'm a monster, and it's strictly forbidden here in the monster world to show ourselves to the normies. It makes me feel bummed out that I can't be able to show myself to her.

But thankfully, we have our letters.

I sent her a new letter a day ago so hopefully, she's got it now. And, hopefully soon, I'll be getting her next letter.

Right now, I'm looking over her old letters, reading about the things that she likes, and the places she's been, and her comments on all the stories I tell her about.

I was rereading her latest letter when-

"Hey, Frank!"

I yelp in surprise and hide the letters behind me. There standing behind the sofa were my bluddies, Draculaurence, Clawdean, Lagoon,  Chike, and Ghoulien.

"Uh, dude, what were you just hiding behind your back?" Clawdean questions me, suspiciously.

I glance side to side and answer, "Nothing!"

The gang look at each other with suspicion and Chike was the first to speak.

"Yeah right," He draws out, "Guys, I think our friend, Frank Stein, here is hiding something from us."

"Oh Frank, please don't tell me that's true," Draculaurence whines, "You know I don't like keeping secrets from each other, especially if they're juicy ones!"
