-"You've been a real pal." As ominous as it is reassuring.

After the news that Casey Becker had been on the phone when she died - one of the few things that remained fact amongst all the rumours - Achilles was almost certain that the voice he had spoken to the day before was Casey's killer.

Which put him in a bit of tight spot. The killer knew who he was, he had put himself on his (or her, seeing as voice changers were available at any costume shop) radar. Whether as an ally or a victim remained to be seen.

"Mr le Blanc," Mrs Tate said breaking Achilles out of his thoughts, "are you with us?"

Achilles gave her a sheepish grin. "Yes, ma'am. I apologize I just have a lot on my mind."

Mrs Tate's face softened. "I understand, just try to pay attention. Did you hear me tell you that Miss Prescott is your partner for the project?"

Achilles was relieved that he hadn't missed the explanation for the project before he got lost in his thoughts. "No ma'am, thank you. I'll also be sure to tell Sidney."

Mrs Tate nodded then continued to pair up partners for the project. Achilles glanced to Sidney's desk, it was empty as the Prescott girl had been taken to the office for questioning.

Why the cops thought that they could question minors without their parents was anyone's guess. Achilles personally would not be answering anything without his mother present.

They'd take anyone as a scapegoat nowadays to wipe their hands and say their done with the case. Any bit of evidence that pointed slightly in someone's direction had them in cuffs before they could even ask for a lawyer.

Achilles didn't have an alibi for the night before, that was like candy land to cops that needed to stick the blame on someone. Add on that he had slept with Casey last Halloween and that it was well known that the le Blancs liked to hunt, things were not looking good for him.

And of course, let's not forget that his father was in prison for first degree murder. Because apparently homicidal tendencies were heriditary in the eyes of the media.

Achilles glanced to where Casey used to sit and sagged in his seat. This entire thing was going to to end badly for him, he could tell.

Achilles found himself in the principal's office right after his English period. Principal Himbry led him to a seat by his shoulder and then promptly left it there. Achilles shot him a disgusted look but made no move to remove the hand.

"Achilles le Blanc?" the officer in front of him asked.

Achilles nodded. "Yes."

"Well Mr le Blanc, I'm Sheriff Burke and this is Deputy Riley and we'd just like to ask you a few questions. Nothing personal, just standard procedures when it comes to cases like these," the officer explained.
