I sat down in the corner wiping my tears away and trying

to control my breathing. It happens so often I should be used to it. It's pretty messed up thinking about it though. Someone being usted to the horrid screams that come from their parents arguing.

Its times like these that really make you see the downsides of being an only child. I dont have anyone to talk to. I cant tell my friend's , not like I have many. If I told anyone that my parents would constantly argue and hurt each other including me , my dad would find out and I dont know what I'd do then.

My name is Elianna Foster , im 17 and I live in Brooklyn, New York. I was born on August 3 ,1997. I live with my mom Emma and my dad Jared.

*THE NEXT MORNING*

I woke up on the floor with dried up tears on my cheeks and puffy eyes just like every other Friday. I stood up from the corner of my room to go to the bathroom.  I looked at myself in the mirror. I was a mess , with ruined eyeliner and mascara from the day before. I decided to take a shower before making myself breakfast.

I had just finished changing into my bra when I heard a knock on my door, I quickly wrapped my towel around me. As I opened the door I saw my mom , with a fresh bruise on her cheek and cut on her lower lip. She sighed as she walked in and sat on my bed.

"I promise this will all bl-" I cut her off "That this will all blow over soon ? You always say that mom ! You always say that , and it never does , does it ?! " she sighs again , her eyes threatening to cry. "Elianna please. " she whispers. I sit down next to her , securing the towel around me. "I'm sorry , mom . I just , I just want this to end. I want to leave this house, I'm tired of being afraid." I confess to my mother. "I do too sweetheart , we just need to find the right time. Where would we go? This needs to be planned, Elianna , we cant just leave. You need to understand , okay?" I nod as I look at my mother. "Okay mom , but soon , yeah ?" She nods as she pulls me in for a hug. " And , mom?" She pulls away from me, putting a strand of wet hair behind my ear, "Yes , baby ?" She smiles , " Can I change now?" She laughs as she nods and heads out if my room.
