Mary Giggled a little.

She stood up and walked into the kitchen where the officers were still eating the leg of lamb and said "Well how is it boys? It seems you like it more than Patrick ever did."

"Very good Mrs. Maloney Thank you." they didn't bother to comment on Patrick.

"All right I will be back soon, stay as long as you'd like and make yourselves at home if you would" Mary said sincerely with a look of sorrow on her face as she started to walk out of the house and onto the streets of London.

"That was a little suspicious, her husband just died and she's going out somewhere?" Jack said

They continued to search the house for the possible murder weapons and they didn't even realise that it was right in front of them the whole time. Until they looked at the leg of lamb bone that was left over from the meat the men were eating.

It had a large crack throughout the whole bone.

"What do you think that's from Jack?" A officer said staring at the bone

" I don't know but we should take it back to the station just to have a look at it."

They took the bone off the plate and put it into a bag labeled "evidence" and left the house all empty with no Patrick and no Mary.

They arrived at the station where they brought the large bone into a room filled with scientists and specialists. One of the many people in the room came up and took the bag from Jack.

20 minutes passed and the person who had taken the bone came back with a stack of papers in a vanilla folder.

"The results have come back and I can confirm-" he was cut of by Jack wanting to know the answer

"Confirm What?" Jack said eagerly

"If you would let me finish you would know. I can confirm that this was used to murder Mr. Maloney. We also found fingerprints on the bone that match Mrs. Maloney's."

" S- So you're telling me that we ate the evidence..." there was a pause

"No actually we found a hair from Mr. Maloney's head on the bone. So we can confirm that with the large crack in the bone it was the murder weapon."

They trailed on about how the evidence was under their noses the whole time and didn't even think to go and find Mrs. Maloney.

Mary didn't go home that night. She knew if she did they would catch her so she decided to run away to America. They would never find her there, she thought. She knew she had to be punished for murdering the love of her life and she thought that soon the guilt would go away but she was wrong.

She was in her red Volkswagen Beetle on the freeway on her way to the airport to flee the country and escape her guilt trap that she had created for herself when she saw that there was a police car behind her with its flashing red and blue lights on. She pulled over to the side of the freeway and awaited the officer to accompany her on the side of the road.

"Hello officer, can I help you?"
