Thunderstorms

Duke hated thunderstorms, ever since he was a kid he's hated them. The problem was that the rest of his family loved them, so they never understood why he hated them so much. One time when he was around 7, his parents brought him outside to watch a thunderstorm but when he heard the thunder and saw the rain, he started screaming and crying as he ran to his room and hid in the closet.

To this day he's still scared of them, and when he moved to LA he thought he had escaped them but apparently not.

It started raining at about 1:00am, you were still asleep, but Duke got woken up by the rain. He had fallen asleep wearing only a pair of sweats but the sound of the rain was making him shiver, so he walked to the closet and put on his favourite black ICON hoodie.

He was about to go back to sleep when he saw a bolt of lightning off in the distance. He tried to cover his ears, knowing what was gonna happen, but it wasn't enough to drown out the loud crack of thunder that caused him to whimper.

He looked at you, noticing you were still asleep as he let out a shaky sigh, he knew he wouldn't be able to sleep through it.

He checked the time after a little bit, his phone reading 1:27am. Great. Duke was on the verge of tears at this point, he had been so busy all week that he was running on about two hours of sleep every day and today was supposed to be his day off to rest but of course fucking Mother Nature had to go and fuck up the first day off that he's had in over three months by not letting him get the one thing he's  needed so bad.

He tried so hard to fall asleep again but every time he started to drift off, he would hear a loud crack of thunder that would cause him to flinch. One particularly loud crack caused him to flinch so hard that he woke you up.

You looked around the room, letting your eyes adjust to the darkness before noticing that Duke was no longer laying next to you. Instead he was curled up on the floor with his head against the wall, and tears streaming down his face. He had decided to check the weather to see if the storm would pass through soon, but apparently it was supposed to last until around midnight tonight, and he was starting to think that he was gonna end up crying himself to sleep.

Another crack of thunder caused duke to flinch as he rested his head on his hand. You stood up and walked over to him and made him come back to bed while you put some old movie on to drown out the sound of the thunder outside. You turned the volume up and watched duke fall asleep within minutes. He was laying between your legs with his arms around your waist and his head on your stomach while you scratched his head and played with his hair, and by the time he woke up, the thunderstorm was gone.
