Because the following oneshots run on my headcanon lore for the series, which is extremely out there, you'll probably need to know all of this going in. Fear not, I'm here to explain.

The Beginning

Around 3.5 billion years ago, a primordial, godlike entity referred to as Prometheus arrived on Earth, roughly the size of Africa. It seeded carbon based life by ripping out its organs and allowing its gushing blood to become the primordial soup in which carbon based life would develop.

JC Jhenson

In the far flung future, billions of years since Prometheus' death, JC Jhenson is founded by Johnathan Jhenson and Carter Jhenson, brothers and future CEOs, the company was created to "Serve humanity". Their technology was cutting edge and supreme. Eventually, after an expedition into Africa's depths, they uncovered Prometheus' corpse. Being prolific genetic engineers, they saw an opportunity to use Prometheus' genetic information to create something brand new. But what...?

The Drones

Their head scientist, Doctor Rockefeller saw this as his opportunity to complete his long-standing project. A project to create a synthetic human. By merging Prometheus and man, he created the first drone. Although the embryonic entity was incapable of doing anything - it had no soul. No will. It was lifeless and braindead. And thus, a new technology was necessary to allow their fully autonomous workers to function.

The AF Engine

Known as an Aeternus Flux Engine, or AF Engine, these hyperadvanced biotech machines are synthesized from Prometheus' bones and are capable of containing a human spirit. The soul inside is unwilling, and greatly dislikes being trapped inside a drone to give them a soul, but this was disregarded. Although this led to a strange consequence.

Going Berserk

A frightening consequence of the AF Engines, going Berserk can occur in drones who are overtaken by their human soul, usually in a situation where they're about to die. A Berserk drone is much more powerful and immune to pain - a Berserk worker drone in the first observed instance of the phenomenon was enough to kill six armed personnel. Berserk drones have a glowing halo of energy above their head and six massive energy wings - in the case of disassembly drones they have two metal wings and four energy wings. Although only unstable drones such as Test-Type N are capable of going Berserk - more stable ones, such as V can almost reach critical mass but die right before they achieve the Berserk state.

The Deal

In order to ensure the Godlings that are the drones never escape and never awaken to their true nature as partial clones of Prometheus, the Disassembly Drones were created. Superhuman drones who were more Prometheus than man, capable of incredible feats of strength, at the cost of intentionally awful energy efficiency. The first Disassembly Drone to go Berserk killed thirty personnel in total, and the facility had to be nuked in order to prevent the drone from escaping. As a result, the company is wary of these drones.

Test-Type Serial Designation N

The first successful Disassembly Drone, Serial Designation N was an achievement. A Disassembly Drone which did not go Berserk. Referred to as the "Test-Type", the first Disassembly Drone to be tested in the field. His capabilities were proven incredible, and he was added to the very first Disassembly Drone squadron, Disassembly Squadron-01. However, should he ever consume the AF Engine of another Disassembly Drone, he could become a new Prometheus. Such an event would be calamitous, and thus the company keeps a close eye on him.

Copper-9's Destruction

The mining colony of Copper-9 experienced a cataclysmic core meltdown, resulting in organic life on the planet being wiped out. The drones there began living their own lives. Thus, Disassembly Squadron-01 was deployed to dispatch them. Consisting of Test-Type Serial Designation N, Serial Designation V, and Serial Designation J.

Project DS

Currently, the company is working on Project DS, a project which apparently will render all current drones obsolete. Their goal is to create drones which are controlled by an AI referred to as the Dummy System, and they've been making incredible progress.

The Dummy System

A network AI designed to adapt to any situation and be totally obedient to the company was developed. The Dummy Units under the control of the system are much more cost effective, as they don't need to be raised and have little mechanical covering. This proves to be the magnum opus of JC Jhenson.
