I woke with a pounding head. I could hear the sirens but it was a faded consistent noise because I still hadn't adjusted to being awake. I had been out cold. My head was aching heavily. The pain was alarmingly strong.

I looked around while my eyes were trying to adapt. I was trying to see that mum and dad and my little brother Joshua were okay. I darted my eyes to the front of the vehicle to find that mum and dad were not there, I assume that they got out safely. I could hear some voices to the left so I looked and I peered to see Joshua with blood dripping out of his mouth and his eyes closed. I could see the harsh, dark bruising around his body and delicate little face.

He was only 4 years old. The crash mostly affected him as it veered into us from the left side. My heart dropped and a overwhelming emotional pain rushed trough my chest leaving a lump in my throat making me burst out with tears. I could feel the tears seeping down my cheeks and my lips began to tremble.

"Joshua" I mumbled

There was no reply.

"Joshua!" I screamed

There was still no reply

I started to cry uncontrollably. I heard a calming voice beside me say, "It's okay, we're going to get you both out." He paused and took a slight breath "What's your name?" I turned to see a man in an ambulance uniform with a concerned look on his face.

I stuttered "Violet" trying to get the words out of my mouth.

Sorry that these 2 chapters are so short I will make the chapters longer soon
