(Hi everyone thank you all for the reads! I have holidays soon so please expect more updates on Adira's story. Hope you enjoy!)
The first person to walk in was the tall blond boy; he took one look at me and turned away with disgust on his face. I stopped coughing and Wesley gave me one more smack on the back before returning to her seat. The other three shuffled into the room rubbing their necks the same way a person would if they had the chip put in the back of their neck as well, they started looking around, and Mochrie looked around the room before his sight landed on me. I couldn't help but smile; Mochrie's eyes widened "Adira?" I laughed and nodded, "what the heck? Why didn't you tell me you'd be here, why didn't tell me?" he continued. I cut him off by running at him and encircling him in a huge hug. He instantly wrapped his arms back around me, he was laughing into my shoulder. "Okay now," Professor Goswami said clapping her hands, "if we could all sit down and get started that would be great."
I sat there while all the important people explained what was happening to Zachariah, Mia, Dmitry and Mochrie. They went through how this was all top secret, what they'd been chosen for, and then settling them down as they all voiced disbelief. "Okay so let me run through this it to my understanding? You've brought us here because you assume we will be the best in a work force that decades ago were discontinued for some unknown reason, we've all been sworn to secrecy, we're all going to live here throughout the entire mission, and you want me to watch my best friend sacrifice herself to fly into the unknown?" Mochrie asked, everyone around the table was speechless after he spoke, not knowing what to say. Someone cleared their throat, I assumed without looking that it had been professor Goswami but in fact it was actually the small, balding professor Daniel Goddard. "We've said it before, not to you but to Adira, this is not her sacrificing herself for science. We've gone over it, the space above our atmosphere is clear of anything other than empty space and the moon. We would not be sending a young woman into space if we hadn't done our research and if we hadn't prepared. God forbid I understand that you are allowed to ask questions, but you have to trust us on this." Professor Goddard sat their breathing heavily staring each of four teenagers in the eye. Mochrie put his head on his hands nodding, "yeah okay, I trust you man."
Later after the meeting and briefing ended I had been tasked with settling the four in to their new rooms. Professor Goswami gave me a sheet with directions to their rooms and also a common room which we all had as a private space for ourselves in our downtime. She'd also written down the bottom that I should take them to the common room after they checked out their own rooms to get to know them. I looked at the sullen face of Zachariah, the dull look on Dmitry's, Mia's smirk and then Mochrie's face smiling encouragement at me. I smiled back, I had the confidence to do this, and I can make friends easily enough. "Right well let's get on our way, we have to get to your rooms and then I'll show you our common room." I started off sauntering down the corridor but nobody else continued with me, Mia smirked more "we have bags with our clothes and personal stuff you know? We had time to prepare." Mia said I felt lost; it wasn't fair that they got clothes and stuff and I didn't. "Okay then uh we'll go get your bags." I said.
I had to reroute my map to suit that we had to go back down to the bottom and collect bags. I was hurriedly doing this while they collected their bags and came back to me. "Hey are we going to go back up to where our rooms are meant to be or sit around with our thumbs up our asses waiting for you?" Someone said coldly, I looked up and saw it was Zachariah who had said it with a mean look on his face. I blushed, not because I was embarrassed but because I was angry that he thought he could speak to me that way. Zachariah saw my emotion obviously and his demeanour quickly subdued. "Fine let's go, follow me." I said and turned on my way.
We'd gruellingly gone through the rooms; with me explaining the monitors and that there was an obnoxiously loud speaker in everyone's rooms. They all went through with their monitors scanning and recognising them as the room's owners. They'd all settled their luggage in their rooms while I stood outside awkwardly waiting. Finally they'd all finished and I made the final check on my map as to where the common room was. I put it away feeling foolish, it was down the hall. I started walking down the hall expecting the others to follow, which they did. We walked until the hall widened out into what looked like a high tech living room, it was the same colour as most of this place white walls with white floors. There were two couches and four chairs all facing one large widescreen TV, it had tables and desks, also a chess table and two large book cases filled with books. "Okay" Mochrie said, "I suppose it's time to start introducing ourselves. I'm Mochrie Diya and I have no clue as to what I am doing."
