Chapter 7

"She'll be here in a few minutes." Matt established as he sat down in the bench nearby.

I couldn't guess who this new girl could be other than the person he was talking to at the gym.

Aaron was on the phone with Hadley, and I was texting with Savage and Shade.

I didn't hear her walk up behind me.

"Excuse me, is this the team Matt is leading?" she asked me.

"Whoa!" I let out in confusion.

Both of us jumped back a bit and Aaron took notice.

"Hey, I'm gonna have to call you back Hadley. I think the famous Willow has appeared." Aaron hung the phone up and Matt stood up.

"Everyone's here." Matt observed, then started the portal machine up.

"So your Willow?" Aaron inquired.

"Umm, I am. Yes." She replied.

"No need to be scared." Jonny told her as he walked back into the room.

"Ack!" She exclaimed.

"We ready Matt?" Jonny asked.

"Now that everyone's here." The portal opened. "Yes. Now Willow, something to remember is to stay with at least one of us."

"O-okay." She responded.

Everyone but Willow and I walked through the portal.

"Hey," I tried to engage. "I'll stay with you okay? My name's Roxanne but my friends call me 'Roxie.'"

"Thanks. I guess I'm a little scared at this point." She responded, looking at the ground.

I grab her hand, and look in her eyes. She looks at mine. "You'll get used to it." I tried to make a comforting smile. I'm not good at that.

She seemed to blush and said, "I guess we need to get going." We both looked at the portal and walked through.

It felt weird. Walking through the portal. Roxie was so nice, trying to put me at ease.

Before I knew it, I was back in my universe. The school, devastated. Those, things, all around.

"We need to do a sweep of the school grounds!" Matt yelled. "Aaron! Roxie! You take Willow and do a quick sweep around the school! If you think you see something, investigate it! Jonny! You're with me!"

He then proceeded to take out quite a few shadow, monster...

I'm going to be honest; I have no idea what they are called.

Oh, I think we just call them minions.

Okay. Well, there were a lot of minions there. I...

Are you okay?

Of course. If you really need to.

Thanks. In the end we found a couple of... old friends.

"Yo Roxie!" Jonny yelled in her ear.

"Jeez!! Jonny will you stop!!" Roxie yelled. "What is it man!?"

"Sorry, just wanted to know who you were texting just now." Jonny explained.

"Well next time can you not freak me out?" Roxie asked.

"Well no promises." Jonny joked, "Was it Willow?"

"Yeah I was just telling her that we were going to meet at Charlie's Dinner later if she wanted to join us."

"That might do her good." Matt observed.

"That's what I thought." Roxie acknowledged Matt. "I figured that since she's new it would be nice to get to know people."

"Is Hadley going to be there?" Matt asked.

"Yeah, she said she'd be there." Jonny answered.

"Make sure to tell her that too." Matt advised.

"Okay." Roxie assured Matt.
