Somewhere deep in the desert, a man in a camel goes through the sands and starts to sing.
Oh, I come from a land
From a faraway place
Where the caravan camels roamWhere it's flat and immense
And the heat is intense
It's barbaric but hey, it's homeWhen the wind's from the east
And the sun's from the west
And the sand in the glass is rightCome on down, stop on by
Hop a carpet and fly
To another Arabian nightArabian nights
Like Arabian daysMore often than not
Are hotter than hot
In a lot of good waysArabian nights
'Neath Arabian moonsA fool of his guard
Could fall and fall hard
Out there on the dunesThe song ends and the merchant man looks at you.
Merchant: Ah, Salaam, and good evening to you, worthy friend. Please, please, come closer.
You come too close to the camera.
Merchant: Too close. A little too close.
You both get off of each other.
Merchant: There. Welcome to Agrabah, City of mystery, of Enchantment, and the finest merchandise this side of the river Jordan, on sale today. Come on down.
You feel a little suspicious of the merchant.
Merchant: Look at this. Yes. Combination hooka and coffeemaker. Also makes julienne fries.
You ask if it would break.
Merchant: Will not break. Will not..
Before he could finish his sentence, the dohickey breaks.
Merchant: It broke. Ohh! Look at this.
He pulls out a small box.
Merchant: I have never seen one of these intact before. This is the famous Dead Sea Tupperware. Listen. *Blows raspberry* Ah, still good.
You decided to go until...
Merchant: Wait. don't go. I can see you're only interested in the exceptionally rare. I think, then. You would be most rewarded to consider this.
He shows a golden lamp.
Merchant: Do not be fooled by its commonplace appearance. Like so many things, it is not what is outside, but what is inside that counts.
You ask what exactly that lamp is supposed to be.
Merchant: This is no ordinary lamp, my boy. It once changed the course of a young man's life. A young man who, like this lamp, was more than what he seemed. The diamond in the rough. Perhaps you would like to hear the tale?
You nodded in response.
Merchant: Very well. It begins on a dark night... Where a dark man waits...with a dark purpose.
