Chapter 11
Fan signing event

ADRI

"I already buy him a house he can live in just like you said." I hold my sunglasses upward and settle it on my head. I take a look outside my car window with Dray sitting by the passenger seat. "And also, he got the job yesterday." Wearing their brown uniform, Sora stands behind the counter with a clean haircut.

He's obviously a barista on that coffee shop, he looks like a different person from the one I saw on the rooftop at the abandoned building last time. I was hoping that he will live his new life to the fullest, and it was better for him not to remember anything about what happened 10 years ago. I don't want him to suffer.

"Why don't you talk to him?" I turn my head to look at Dray who is still staring at him.

"I'm not ready yet. I can't even see him up close without remembering the brutality they do to all of them. To us." He met my eyes and that's where I saw an emotion passed by his eyes.

He never told me anything about what's been happening to them when I wasn't already there, when my dad decided to adopt me. But I know, just by looking at him, that it was the worse.

Dad was kind enough to let me visit them on the orphanage every week and brings them everything that they wanted. They have this big smile painted on their faces every time I showed up to see them and I failed to notice that there was something wrong. They completely hide the wounds and scars from me.

I've been visiting them for almost one year until that day when they didn't show up, it was that time when I already sense that there was something wrong. I stubbornly follow my dad even though he told me to stay in the car and that's when I found out about Violet and her evil deeds. That was also the time, when shit happened.

"I'll respect your decision, then." I look away before I can see his tears drop and starts the engine.

I heard him silently sniffles before I saw him smiling. "Where are you going though?"

"To my fan signing event."

"Oh I thought you're going to cancel it?"

"Nope, I changed my mind."

"Why all of the sudden?"

"Because Detective Dankworth will be there."

"Oh you're making your move?"

"I already am." I shrugged my shoulders as I maneuvered the steering wheels. Silence engulf us for about a minute when he decided to speak again.

"You knooow, he's not just an ordinary detective. If it comes to doing his job, he's a merciless one."

"There's nothing to worry about, I am well aware."

"I can't help it." I glance at him and can't see his face because he is facing the window. "What if he found out that it was you? I can't bear to see you behind the bars."

"Okay, I get it. Tell me what you wanted me to do to lessen your worries." I park my car in front of the arena, where my fan signing event will be held. Lots of people are already waiting outside, some noticed my arrival as they rush towards my Porsche but the guards didn't let them go any further.

"Don't fall." My hands stop on its track to turn off the engine. "For him."

My eyebrows met as I look at him. "That's all? It's just a piece of cake for me." I smirk as I turned off the engine. Numbers of people who desperately tried their way to me, increases. And the bodyguards are already having a hard time.
