The story is Ruby x Sapphire ship, Sapphire has an eyepatch because as a child she was in a fire so she now lives in an orphanage and she chases after her ribbon where she meets Ruby who is a baseball player and introduces sapphire to her friends during the whole story sapphire meets a grandmother and brother she didn't know she had. I think the story had chapters into the 70s or at least somewhere close to that number.
Edit: I'm pretty sure it was called fire, ice and everything nice but I'm not a hundred percent sure, I'm assuming it has been taken down. If anyone at least knows what happened to it whether it was deleted completely or moved to another website please let me know, I really liked it and it was up for years I reread it a lot so for it to be gone one day is a little sad, it was really good and well written.
