Jonathan's POV

"Am sorry Jonathan, by law we have to let you go."

I could only hang my head low.

How will i survive out there?

"Please, atleast let me stay for a few days to sort myself out. I promise i will leave soon." I pleaded

Miss Vantwolk nodded her head, she stood up from her chair and approached me.

"Am giving you a week, after that you have to move out. You are a good boy Jonathan, but unfortunately the law is not in my hands."

I smiled and thanked her, even if a week isn't enough i am pretty sure that i could manage to make a plan.

I stood up and made my way to the door.

"Oh and Jonathan."

I turned.

"Yes, Miss Vantwolk?"

She smiled.

"Happy 18th birthday."

I smiled.

"Thank you."

I walk out of Miss Vantwolk's office with a heavy heart. Although i knew that this was coming i just didn't want to believe it. I have lived here almost all my life, all the memories that i have had here are still being replayed infront me.

Unfortunately, i have to leave them all behind.

I was five when my parents left me here, a week after that i heard that they got in an accident. Vantwolk's orphanage home became my new home, but now because am 18 i have to move out. That is the law, any orphan who is 18 years of age should be evacuated from their orphan homes to work.

If you ask me, that is a very sick law, but no matter what we think, we cannot win against the giants of the law.

Am afraid, but not of leaving this place, am afraid because when am gone. Who will she stay with? Who will protect her?

I opened her bedroom door and peeked inside. There she was, playing with her favourite toys, mind lost in her own imagination.

I smiled to myself, how can i leave such a precious soul alone.

She noticed my appearance and she flashed her gummy smile at me while gesturing me to come in.

She patted a space next to her and i took my sit.

"Jonathan, why are you late for tea time?"
She asked in the most cutest way possible.

"Am very sorry Amira, I had a talk with Miss Vantwolk, that is why am late."

She nodded and continued to play.

"Amira."

I called out.

She looked up to me.

"How do you feel about leaving the orphanage?"

She dropped her toys and frowned her eyebrows at me.

"Leaving. Why?"

"Well you see, am 18 now, and by law i have to leave the orphanage. I don't want to leave you here all alone so i want to take you with me."

Her eyes started to water.

"No Amira, don't cry, i promise i will come back for you. I will adopt you and we will live together in our own home. Would you like that?"
