"Are you okay?" Taehyung asked softly as the Alpha had walked away from him to sit on the couch and hold his head in his hand.

Jeongguk didn't reply, trying to get rid of his pounding headache so Taehyung steps closer softly, not knowing what to expect.

He certainly did not expect this to happen when he first meets his mate.

He carefully places his hand on the guy's shoulder and flinches when Jeongguk looks up in a sharp movement, red eyes glowing dangerously.

Taehyung had to be honest, he felt scared under his glare. He felt how he made himself smaller but it didn't help to get away from the stare. But the words leaving his mouth next were the ones that really hurt.

"Why, out of all wolves, are you my mate??"

Taehyung stepped back from the rejection, felt his heart break by the way the man, who's supposed to love him till the end of time, spat out these painful words.

Jeongguk saw the pain flash through the wolf's eyes and regretted his action. He had no intentions to hurt the Omega. He stands up to try and make it better but Taehyung flinches back, away from the Alpha who was still looking at him with those red eyes.

Taehyung turned around and ran out of the dorm, ignoring when Jeongguk called out his name. He ran towards the elevator and luckily for him it was still on the same floor. He gets in and quickly presses the button to the floor underneath them. He sees Jeongguk gets out of the dorm too and all he could see was the elevator doors close, taking away the sight of his crying mate.

Jeongguk growls frustrated and punches against the wall. He didn't want to hurt him. He didn't mean to lose his temper. But maybe it's for the best. This way he can move on from him, he will not be in any danger and can find a nice Alpha or Beta to mate with. He sighs and walks back into his dorm.

Downstairs, Taehyung runs back to his dorm, sight a bit blurry as tears don't stop from rolling down his cheeks. How could something that started so well, made him so happy, ends up breaking his heart? He just couldn't wrap his head around it. Why would Jeongguk say that? Is it because of his father?

Taehyung knows that a lot of wolves hate him, think he's stupid or disgusting or dangerous just because of his father. And it hurt him because he's nothing like his father. But knowing his mate thinks the same way broke his heart.

And what if his father has nothing to do with it. What if he doesn't like Taehyung in general. Taehyung touches his cheek softly. Maybe he's too chubby or just nog pretty enough?

With trembling hands, he tries to open the door to his room. Jimin and Yoongi hear the struggles on the other side and just now a wave of sadness hits them. They look at each other with a confused frown before Jimin jumps up and opens the door. He's met with his best friend, face soaked in tears, soft sobs leaving his lips, and eyes closed.

Jimin gasps as he holds his friend in his arms, feeling him wrap his arms around him too as he cries in his best friend's arms.

"Tae? What happened?" Jimin asks worriedly, getting him inside the dorm and closing the door so no one has to witness the normally so happy boy in so much pain.

"Did Doyoung do this?" Jimin asks but Taehyung doesn't reply. He feels embarrassed, he can't tell him. Jimin notices Taehyung doesn't want to talk about it and just holds him. Yoongi comes back from the kitchen with a glass of water.

"Tae, here, drink something," Jimin says as he takes the glass. Taehyung grabs it and takes a sip, still not taking a break from crying.

"What happened, tell me, Tae," Jimin says. Taehyung looks up to see worry laced in his best friend's eyes.

"I-I found my m-mate," he whispers, breaking into a fit of sobs and tears after again. Jimin's eyes widen as he pushes Taehyung's head on his shoulder again and holds him close. He felt tears well up in his own eyes as he knew well what happened. Even Yoongi felt his stomach clench briefly by the words, feeling pity for the Omega.

"Who is it? I'll kill him," Jimin growls angrily, making Taehyung shudder lightly. He shakes his head, indicating he won't tell him.

"I'll go back to my dorm. You have some more important stuff to deal with," Yoongi says and Jimin nods. They exchange a kiss before Yoongi leaves the dorm.

"Tae... you want to talk now? Yoongi is gone," Jimin says and brings him to the couch. Taehyung nods softly and looks down.

"I-I went u-upstairs to Doi's dorm a-and J-Jeongguk opened ins-stead and h-he turned out to be my m-mate," Taehyung starts. He tells him what happened. How great it felt when Jeongguk held him and how Jeongguk started to act all different all of a sudden.

"H-He didn't want me in p-particular," Taehyung cries and looks at Jimin. "Oh, Tae. I'm so sorry. He does not know what he's missing, baby. You're the best and he'll regret hurting you!" Jimin says as he holds the Omega closely. "You're j-just saying this b-because you're my friend..."

"Duh. And the reason I'm your friend is because of the things I just said... Taehyung, your father is an ass and it's not fair you get punished for it." Taehyung gulps and looks down again. Jimin could see the insecurities in his eyes.

"Tae, look at me. You're the most beautiful person in this world, okay? I'm sure he does not think differently and if he does he might just need eye surgery," Jimin says and is happy to see a soft sad smile on his best friend's face.

"Jeongguk is friends with Yoongi... if you want I can ask Yoongi to talk with him?" Taehyung looks up again and shakes his head. "No!" he whispers and new tears roll down his cheeks. Jimin hugs him closely again.

And so Taehyung's birthday hit a whole new turn of events, not even close to what Taehyung expected would happen.
