y/n-"i'm going to fail!" i exclaim, throwing my potions paper down onto the table in front of me. luna sighed and looked up at me.
"no you're not y/n, you always say this but you never do, you're near enough always top of the class" she said, i shrug, "yes perhaps, but i am determined to beat malfoy in this test! he beat me last time by a single percent and i'm having none of it." i state, she rolled her eyes.
luna got up off the bed and went to our door, "where are you going?!" i ask, "i'm away to talk to pansy, you can come if you'd like?" she suggested, desperately trying to get me away from studying for a minute.
i look down at the mess on my bed, "you know what i'll come with you, my brain can't take anymore on different potions i will never use in my life, apart from a few i'd use some actually" i say, collecting the mess up and putting it into two separate piles.
she smiled, "thank merlin.." she muttered, loud enough for me to hear, i giggle, "zip it, owls are very important you know!" i claim, "yes but y/n they aren't the end of the world" she told me, linking our arms together.
ever since first year, draco and i had been rivals you could say, constantly fighting as to who was better at what, and it's made me feel a sense of annoyance towards him.
we were now in fifth year, and nothing had changed. "does she know we're coming over? i don't want to walk in on her kissing blaise again" i laugh, trying to not visualise what luna and i had witnessed not long ago.
"yeah i messaged her, she's in the common room so unless she likes the idea of being seen, she won't be straddling zabini" she said, i let out a sigh of relief, not needing to be scarred for life again.
the halls were filled with people sitting on the floor studying for the tests they had coming up, we have so many this year, not even counting our owls.
considering the distance form the ravenclaw dorms to the dungeons, it didn't feel all that long, luna and i were talking about people we liked, i was determined to set luna up with ginny at one point through the year, she couldn't stop talking about her.
i didn't have my eye on anyone if i'm honest, my main priority is academics.
i'm still young, i have my whole life ahead of me, plenty of time to find a man and have a family.
"y/n she's so pretty" luna whined, grabbing my arm and shaking it, i giggle, "as you've said" i say, she rolled her eyes, "it's not as if you don't have a crush" she said,
"i actually don't, focusing on myself and my work this year" i smile, looking awfully proud of myself, "by work, you mean drawing people's pets and studying for a series of tests that aren't until the end of the year" she stated. i shrug, "yes, that's exactly what i mean".
she giggled and stopped in her tracks, leaning against a pillar, "are you sureee you don't fancy anyone?" she said, raising an eyebrow. i nod, with a look on my face to say 'have i not said that about a million times?'.
"what about a specific blonde, blue eyed, tall, smart, slytherin called draco?" she asked, i choke on a breath, "luna babes not a chance! we are simply academic rivals, that is it" i say breathlessly.
"yeah yeah, whatever you say, pureblood" she said, telling the painting the password to get in, the common room had its usual warmth to it thanks to the fireplace and candles around the room.
